No More Blank Walls!
I started drawing when I was quite young, and I can vividly remember filling up MANY sketchbooks with silly little illustrations and doodles. I always knew I would do something in the art field as I got older, but I never knew what exactly. When it came time for me to pick a major in college I didn't even hesitate..."well ART of course!" I absolutely loved my college art classes, as they pushed me to think outside of the box and develop my own personal style. Even though I enjoyed my college art classes, I got extremely burnt out after four and a half years of forced creativity. So...after graduating with a B.A. in Art, I decided to leave my drawing tools behind (for about six years) and go on a few adventures...
Art really didn't come back into my life until I came back home from my biggest adventure - working and living on the mountains in Maine for six months. After my trip to Maine I had some free time, and a little more clarity, so I picked up a pencil and started to draw again. Only this time, I was drawing in a way that I had never drawn before. I don't know how or why but my personal style had completely changed. I guess you could say that it was the start of a process that gradually led to my current style. A style that I would define as an eclectic mix of realistic, surrealistic, abstract, and fanciful images. I always enjoy taking realistic images, ideas, references, etc., and tweaking them a little, so as to create something that is slightly unreal. Over the last few years I have also developed an affinity for all things round. I constantly find myself either working within the perimeters of a circle, or just simply adding circles to enhance a design. I just LOVE circles!
I also try to create a variety of artwork that speaks to both women and men, young and old. I want to expose everyday people to accessible and affordable art and help them fill those big blank walls in their house! I hate blank walls! I absolutely hate them! So...I guess you could say I'm on a mission...I'm on a mission to help fill the blank walls of this world with original, unique, and intriguing art. I want to help people personalize their homes and make them interesting, warm, and inviting. It's never too late to add art to your life!
