LOVE this scarf! The color is even prettier in person than it is in the pictures. Along with being super warm, it has a high-quality feel that only comes from being handmade. Shipped fast. Highly recommended!
In the beginning...
I opened Broken Foot Crafts in January 2012. I broke my foot the end of November in 2011 and was stuck on the couch for 10 weeks. As you can imagine, this was an incredibly dull period of time. I began to crochet to pass the time. And so I spent almost everyday for 10 weeks crocheting. One scarf turned into 25. I then realized that I had a problem... there was no way that I could possibly wear all of these scarves. So I decided to give Etsy a try.
All of my scarves represent my style. As you can tell from the pictures, I have A LOT of hair. As a result, I must balance it with large accessories. My motto is "the bigger the better" when it comes to scarves and earrings. I don't think its possible to make a scarf that is too big. I feel that my love for giant scarves has made my shop unique. One of the biggest challenges has been creating a product that sticks out. I think that my love for chunky accessories has helped Broken Foot Crafts stand out from other shops.
It has definitely been a work in progress. One challenging thing about opening my shop was figuring out shipping costs. I would say that for the first 5-10 scarves I ended up spending more on shipping then what I was charging. I've since then figured it out.
I have been inspired by so many Etsy artists who have quit their day jobs and rely completely on their shop. I would love nothing more than for my hobby to become my job. I recently made my 25 sale and am aiming to have 30 (hopefully more) by the end of the year. Creating a shop is definitely a process, and you have to take it one step at a time. It is important that I continue to set goals for my shop so that it will continue to grow.

I am about to graduate college, which is very exciting. I work at the local Whole Foods and homeless resource center. When I have time to spare I enjoy reading, and of course, crocheting. I hope you like what you see and please spread the word!
