Unearthing and creating beauty from natures own hidden secretes
All my life I have been drawn to working with my hands and all natural wood. Building and creating furniture and restoring anything I could get my hands on became a source of freedom from the stress of a caree in the corporate banking world, a way to feel at ease and express what I truly felt inside. Late 2013, after 36 years in banking, my caree was taken away and I was left to re discover myself. It was like a bolt of lightning, something I just had to do........so I became a full time artist and woodturner........
With no money or resources, Tomorrow's Hierlooms Today was born 26/01/2014. Long hours 7 days a week and need to support myself soon bought out the fire and desire to succeed, along with that desire came so much pent up passion and an unyielding need to create, it was like I had a life time of ideas just waiting to burst forth.
I started with wood carvings and very quickly discovered the wood lathe, this was an instant marriage made in heaven. With this machine I was able to unearth all the natural beauty that can only be found in wood. The colours and grain patterns, the natural curves and flowing lines never cease to amaze me, every piece is totally unique and could never be repeated.
My workshop is at my home in a remote sea side village in Central Queensland, the area is full of wildlife and a good selection of stunning trees which provids me with both inspiration and wood to be as creative as I can. From my home, my works are posted to new owners around the world and across Australia, I still get excited when an order comes in from a new country.
All my pieces are one of a kinds, designed to bring pleasure and become a treasured possession to be handed down through out the years. It took me 50 years but I truly believe I have finally found my place in this world, and I look forward to being able to bring a little joy to others for many more years to come.
