About

Metal from Formless to Fantastic

The lost wax casting process is as old as time, today we have modern materials that improve our end results but the process is nearly unchanged.
It starts with a wax master, anywhere from ten to forty or more hours can go into creating that exquisite piece. Then that perfect work gets replicated in a rubber mould, this then goes to the wax injector for reproducing several copies. These copies are sprued up (wax rods are attached to provide pathways for liquid metal) and invested (a special plaster is poured around the wax replicas), then they go through a day long heating cycle called burn out until they reach over 700c. Metal is then liquefied in a crucible, for bronze this means heating to over 1100c. Once the metal is ready the flask with a now hollow space gets put onto a vacuum plate, air is drawn through it while liquid metal is poured filling this same hollow place that wax used to occupy, when everything cools for a bit the new metal model is removed from its plaster prison, cleaned, cut and polished until it is perfect.

Having always been a tinkerer I thought it would be neet to build my own melting oven, this idea grew and evolved until several years later I found myself carving casting and finishing pieces in both silver and my favorite metal bronze.

Welcome to my shop, I design carve and cast in copper alloys such as bronze and sterling silver using the "lost wax casting" method, everything from the design stage to the final polish are done in my studio. Lost wax casting has been around since the beginning of time, all the great empires employed artisans for creating everything from spoons to crowns. I like to draw inspiration from many sources including tribal, celtic, aisian and most of all Nature.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I accept payment via paypal, at this time other options are not available.
Shipping
Listed Shipping is very basic Canada Post mail, this does NOT include tracking, if you wish to track or expedite your parcel contact me for info. I will ship to almost every country but some countries I have to use a tracking number for so it costs a bit extra. Contact me with your questions.

The "Everywhere Else" option is a catch all and goes via registered mail (instead of standard air mail) so it can be tracked, this is for countries that take a long time to ship to, I can still ship regular mail to these locations though.

Buyers are responsible for all import tax's and duties for their countries. If you wish to use another shipment method contact me before paying for the items in question. You might have to pay customs on items that require a customs declaration, generally anything larger then a couple pendants will need a declaration.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refund within 30 days of receiving the item, buyers are required to pay the return shipping for unwanted items. Items must be clean, in new condition and in original packaging.
Additional policies and FAQs
Most of my castings are available in larger quantities so if you require a few more buttons to finish off that special coat I can make more, just send me an order.

Please remember I am not selling supplies for resale, if you want to create something with my work for resale you must get my permission first, my work is my intellectual property, and is sold for personal enjoyment not resale.
