About

In search of a cheaper way to shave

Tired of spending $50 every 16 weeks, I searched for a cheaper way to shave. With some research I ran across a Merkur Double edge safety razor, and made the purchase. I used it for a week with little success, back to the old way.....
I got online again and started doing more research and found a shaving forum, I thought that's odd....and found all the information I needed to know about this Double edge safety razor. Very simple tool to use once you know how to use it, and a very cheap tool in the long haul to use, and IMHO more enviromentally friendly. One year after I started using a Double edge safety razor, I became curious about straight razors. My first straight razor was my Great grandfathers, that my Dad had given me. Knowing little about how to use or sharpen them at the time, I set it aside. I purchased another straight razor (Boker Red injun) that needed cleaned up, sharpened etc. I purchased some hones, after doing some research, and actually got that razor shave ready! (2009) After honing several other razors I felt confident enough, finally in 2013 to offer my services for anyone needing their razor touched up or bevel set and honed to shave ready condition. I plan on making some video's (YouTube) eventually on using a double edge safety razor and straight razor. YouTube is littered with these kind of video's and I found them very helpful so what's a few more.

Grew up in Southern Lancaster County, Pa. Always enjoyed turning on the lathe. After taking my son to the Barber. I talked to the Barber about straight razors and shave brushes and that I needed a lathe, well he said I have one. Brush-Craft was born!
