Makawao, Hawaii 57 Sales On Etsy since 2017

Announcement   Welcome to Bulungi Beads, The Peace For Paul Foundation's Etsy shop. Bulungi means "good" or "beautiful". All of our items are hand made in Uganda by moms and young women and all sales from this store go back to them. Our jewelry is named after the girls who live in the Peace For Paul homes.

Bulungi Beads was born of a desire to empower hard working Ugandan women with a market to sell their incredible works of art and love. Did you know that Uganda has an unemployment rate of 80% and over 50% of the population is under the age of 15? Statistics like these are not just numbers, they represent a very difficult reality for many families struggling in ways many of us will never comprehend.

Particularly affected are those families living in the slums and other more rural areas of Uganda. Many of the children in the care of the Peace For Paul Foundation have family from these areas who simply cannot afford to take care of their children. It's not a matter of not being willing to work, in fact many of the women toil for hours to make this jewelry, but then find they have no one to sell it to.

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN HELP THESE WOMEN AND CHILDREN:
By purchasing this jewelry from our shop, you support the hard working women in the families of some of the Peace for Paul children! 100% of the profits from the sale of each piece will be used to support both the children and their amazing hard working family members who made your chosen jewelry!

About

Meet the ladies who created these items

Ana and Fatuma live in a slum village near Jinja, Uganda. They work hard to make these beads to help provide for their families. Their living conditions are not ideal compared to western standards, but look at the smiles on their faces! They are the friendliest, happiest, warmest women in the village. They love their families and take pride in their work. Thank you for supporting them.
