Bringing people together with cheeky cheer and hand-drawn charm
They say a baby changes everything, and that was certainly the case for me. After having my son, I left my corporate design job and long commute to stay home with him. Once the sleep deprivation wore off (a year later), I missed that aspect of creativity in my life. I started designing things that resonated with me at the time -- baby announcements and party invitations -- and opened an Etsy shop with templates that could be personalized with color and information. In early 2014, I attended TSBC's Paper Camp and decided to expand into the wholesale market by creating a stationery line. That year, I concepted, wrote and designed nearly 60 greeting cards as well as a selection of fill-in invitations, art prints and thank you sets that debuted at the National Stationery Show in 2015.
My inspiration comes from casual conversations with friends, music that resonates, movies I love. I have sketchbooks all over the house and jot down fragments of ideas in my phone at all sorts of random times. I work from home, either at our kitchen table (if my 5-year-old wants to paint with me) or upstairs in my office. I love the portability & flexibility of my job and will almost always bring a sketchpad and my laptop when I travel.
While I love everything about letterpress, many of my designs are better suited to a 4-color printing process. So I found a local printer with state-of-the art equipment and super friendly folks, and have been happily working with them since.
