Announcement   Renewable and lasting - Concrete vessels by Kasten Design Works

Nestled deep in the foothills of Historic Pasadena, Ca. sits the 1914 built, Bungalow Street Design Studio. Concrete Artisan and designer Rich Kasten, creates each piece by hand for his clients and now he's happy to provide some of his creations here on Etsy.

These concrete works have great range. From the Minimalist home to the Bungalow they present a stunning simplicity and strength.

:: No two concrete vessels are exactly the same. Each piece is unique with it’s own characteristics. I choose elements to enhance each piece within the casting and finishing process. Color variations, small cracks and worn areas are to be expected
and desired adding character to each piece ::

Thank you to those within the Esty community who support us and thank you to those who've made purchases!

Have a blessed day!

This was a gift for my sister's birthday and ended up being just perfect. It has a beautiful patina, that will increase with time, and she also commented on how good how it feels to the touch. The idea was for it to be a accent to her pool, since it can be used inside or out, but she loves it so much she only lets it go outside for visits. : ) I appreciated Rich's personal touch and communication as well. He sent pictures before it shipped out and even put our message to her in a handwritten card. Highly recommended!

I have wanted one of these bowls forever. It's so chic and hefty and elemental and well made. Love!

About

The Bungalow Street Shop

Items created for my home design clients as part of an overall design were seen and desired by people as a stand alone item. I would make some changes here and there to the original and offer the piece to those who were interested simply by word of mouth. Some of these items are now available here on Etsy.

After being asked to enter my home in a historic home tour in 2009, I created a mailbox that had been in my mind for some time to be mounted on my home. I finished it on the day of the tour. The mailbox was received well and I sought out a place to maybe sell it and stumbled across Etsy in a design magazine. The mailbox gained some attention and in short time This Old House contacted me to do a feature on it.

I work with concrete quite a bit in my design job and my vessels were next to be featured on etsy. It's been fun creating pieces and shipping them all over the country and abroad.

I use simple materials that are renewable and all natural mineral oil and bees wax sealers on my concrete work.

Thank you for looking at my work here on Etsy
