I love this grid. Sometimes I forget that it's double sided, and then I'm pleasantly surprised with another option. Excellent craftsmanship, and it arrived quickly.

About

Art is Transformation

Before I decided to start making and selling my pieces there was always just the art. I never thought I was very good, but I did it anyways. It fed my soul, it nourished my heart. It transformed me. Moments where I was in the most pain were accompanied always by lack of creation. When I wasn't creating it was because I felt horrible.

The lotus grows from the mud. This is as art is for us. We can create despite the hardships we have endured.

If I felt bad and I forced myself to create it was like breaking through a wall of self-doubt, fear, and pain. I remember early in 2016 when I began on this particular new pathway that led me to opening my shop I was in such pain and sadness. A friend had left his shakuhachi flute with me to care for and the moment I picked it up and started playing it was like a crack in the dam.

I had no voice. I had no sense of empowerment. Yet when I started to let the air out, it led to me speaking up. It led to me speaking my truth to those around me and being validated in my experience. It led me back to my intuition and trusting my gut for the first time in many years.

I've always made a lot of things I needed. I knew I could make anything I wanted if I tried. It wouldn't always be the best on the first try, but I could make anything. This wood business started out by needing a tea tray to make tea, hold spilled liquids, and serve to friends who were there to emotionally support me.

I hand-carved out a chunk of wood from the woods behind my house. I wanted to burn it but the design I wanted was too complex to do by hand. I found a way to take my digital works and engrave them and started making wooden trays.

Today I make a lot more stuff and have way more ideas that I've yet to explore. I'm getting there slowly but surely. This store is the first step in my journey stepping into artistry with confidence.

A woodworker from early ages I learned the art of mandalas really early in life through my grandmother's rosemåling art. I never got to meet her, but her spiritual influence was everywhere in our home. I strive to mesh the digital and natural.
