From our hilltop cottage in an Australian country village the 'by marie-nicole' handcrafted wares continue to be valued across the globe thanks to this little Etsy store...

Keeping minimal waste practices, small scale production of quality crafted products & artisan techniques alive... and most importantly appreciated in this modern day society consumed by cheap mass production. The waves of change are slowly taking affect... as an artisan earning a living through practising what I truly believe in, I see it first hand every time I receive an order from a conscious consumer & a message of gratitude when they receive their one of a kind item created with passion and respect for our earth and global community.

Old woollen blankets and kangaroo leather offcuts add character to my products and form the basis of my range. I have always managed to see potential in something old or an item that would ordinarily be destined for the rubbish heap. The more we throw out and replace the more we diminish our resources unnecessarily. Artisan techniques are not about mass production they are about passion, detail and beauty, uniqueness, incorporating these into functional items while enhancing our everyday living experience... this is what leads me create the products that I do.

I am inspired to preserve the natural beauty that surrounds us and encourage people to shop with consideration for our environment and our future by sustaining craftmanship skills that enable us to take care of ourselves and not rely so heavily on a supply chain to provide us with our needs.

So many beautiful hearted people enter my world through my Etsy store & Artisan markets and for that I am truly grateful. xx

5 out of 5 stars

I wish I could give these two wallets 10 stars. They are beyond perfect and both my husband and I cannot wait to use them. These wallets are my fifth and sixth Wild Hide purchase and it never ceases to amaze me how versatile this product really is. I already put my cards and passport into my wallet (I got the bigger one) and everything fits like a glove. There is so much room to store stuff, but it is not bulky at all. Either passport wallet can be used with Marie-Nicole's Wild Hide pouches or clutch or the wool satchels. I would HIGHLY recommend either of these wallets or any of Marie-Nicole's products. They fit any and all lifestyles. I cannot wait to see what next year brings. :O)

I have purchased multiple items from this shop and each item is just awesome. I have given away many as gifts and their owners love them. You can tell that each item is made with care and love. Marie-Nicole satchels are so versatile and handy in day-to-day activities and trips. Each item has a level of detail and craftsmanship that is unparallel. Thank you so much for everything. Looking forward to the new year and adventures!

About

Rescued & Repurposed

In my previous life as a portrait photographer I strived to capture the beauty of living through my lens, but these days as a mother of two with a passion for sustainability, I focus on handcrafting beautiful products for others to enjoy amidst their everyday activities.

My long time love of rescuing and repurposing an item with a past life, a hidden story or simply something that would ordinarily be destined for the rubbish heap... along with the desire to be able to strum a tune on my guitar with my family while immersing ourselves in the joys of our rural location, sitting out on our verandah at the end of a productive day filled with cooking up a storm, tending to our feathered and furry pets or veggie patch... but most of all to be able to share my adventure filled creative journey with my family, rather than always having to leave them behind while venturing off to capture the beauty in other people's lives... lead me to draw from skills learned growing up in a resourceful family, as well as those developed through formal education, experimentation, reading and asking many questions of other artisans with great experience in their field.

This is how 'by marie-nicole' was born and continues to grow, with my family in tow!
