Christina's creations are masterpieces. Many of her pieces celebrate the beauty of nature and are a joy to wear and share with others. There should be a special 6-star category for art work like Christina's.

I first met Christina and discovered her amazing talent at an art gallery show in Mill Valley, CA. I was a graduate student, poor in pricey SF (or else I’d have bought everything she brought with her), and instantly enthralled with the level of artistry and skill Christina brought to her work. It was so interesting to have her explain the process, showing some of her tools and describing her training, and instead of looking through a microscope at neurons, I was looking through a loup at her paintings. I have always been fascinated by miniatures and Renaissance art and I’m so happy to have this beautiful piece that brings both of these things together. Thank you, Christina!

Christina is incredibly talented. The earrings are perfection, and I am so excited to give to my friend for her 60th birthday. I already have a necklace that I adore and have gotten so many compliments on.

    I couldn’t be more thrilled.

    Thank you

Miniature Paintings to Wear... Why Not?

My first art job after earning my BFA was painting goofy lettering onto coffee mugs for tourists in New Orleans. Then came sign painting, decorative painting, gilding, and painting rain jackets. Unsure what to do next, I thought- why not merge two of my loves, miniatures and Renaissance art, into wearable paintings? It made sense to me at the time. In order to make paintings small enough to wear, I taught myself to paint in miniature. My very first pieces were rather... ahem... chunky, but my painting became smaller and finer with each passing year. It all began in the early 1990's and I’ve been making a living at it ever since.

I’ve mainly sold my jewelry, miniature paintings (for dollhouses) and small art objects through shows, shops and galleries. It has always been my full time bread & butter. Like many creatives, Coronavirus has had a dire impact on my livelihood. Yes, change is knocking us upside the head. But it’s also revealing new ways of living and working. Before, I always looked outward- to travel, shows, next week, next year. Now that I’m at home every day for the foreseeable future, I can appreciate what’s right here, in front of my face. Fewer distractions mean more time to create, experiment and share work with my fans in new ways.

Beautiful details. Details in Renaissance paintings, illuminated manuscripts and decorative art are part of my inspiration. I’m also drawn to the beauteous bits in nature that are often overlooked. I place these little treasures as focal points in my paintings and jewelry. Whether it’s a small wildflower in my yard, a squirrel quibbling at me from a branch or an exquisitely painted detail in a Renaissance painting, these are the things that make me want to paint. Hopefully, my pieces will add some light and peace to these murky times we’re living in.

I work in a converted shed/studio “shedio” in southeast Louisiana, surrounded by woods and neighboring all kinds of interesting creatures (not including the humans) My other creative interests lately are calligraphy, animation, puppets and ink drawing. I’m currently working with a new platform called Patreon that will allow me to share my work, studio and techniques with you.... stay tuned!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

Commissions are welcome. Just give me your idea and I’ll let you know if it’s possible. Believe me- I’ve had a few crazy ones that were not! Most ARE possible. I can personalize items on the back, such as writing a word or short name (not like Benicio Monserrate Rafael del Toro Sánchez, or Isabella Fiorella Elettra Giovanna Rossellini.)

Care instructions

The acrylic paint I use is very durable, but I varnish the painting as well as the 24 k gold leaf. The entire piece is then given a wax coating to further protect it and give a nice sheen. A little moisture, such as rain, won’t hurt the piece, but prolonged contact such as showering or swimming should be avoided. It’s best not to spray with products that contain alcohol, like perfume or hair products- just put the jewelry on when your finished. To avoid damage and wear, be careful with seat belts (for pins). If you have any issues with a piece you’ve purchased, message me and I’ll see what I can do.

Sizing details

I’ll always include measurements in the item description, and often a photo will show scale. For necklaces, I can offer chain lengths of 16”, 18” or 20”, unless the chain is not removable. Special size request? Please ask!

Gift wrapping and packaging

The jewelry is packaged on a decorative card, with care info on the back. The card is put in a pouch then a small cardboard gift box. Paintings are packed in a pouch, and if small enough, in a box. Otherwise the pouches are placed in a larger, attractive organza pouch.
