About

A Love Affair with Color

I have always loved color! Ever since I can remember, I have chosen to surround myself with brightly colored things, including clothes, furnishings, accessories, and colorful personalities.

I stumbled upon fused glass as an art medium in spring of 2006. Multicolored glass in a shop window caught my eye as I jogged by a neighborhood shop early in the morning. You might say it was love at first sight!

The seemingly endless colors of raw glass for sale in this small business enchanted me. The shop offered classes on making fused glass plates and pendants, so I signed up for a couple lessons. I was instantly hooked!

Kiln-formed glass became the perfect marriage of my passion for color and my burning desire to always have the perfect accessory for any outfit.

Soon I found myself creating batches of fused glass pendants and booking extra studio time for my newfound love. Excited by my handcrafted jewelry, I shared a few with family and close friends. It wasn't long before the hobby became a small business as friends of friends, co-workers, and neighbors were gobbling up my pendants and plates at home shows.

When someone said my glass looked good enough to eat, the "yummies" brand was born. Since I started CJ Yummies, I have sold hundreds of fused glass pendants aka yummies, as well as other jewelry items, accessories, and home decor.

Prior to the birth of CJ Yummies, I enjoyed a career in public relations. In 1985 when big-do's were the thing and "dress for success" was the business mantra, I graduated from University of Georgia with a journalism degree. After graduation I lived in Atlanta and worked at advertising agencies and PR firms before I settled down in Charleston, SC, with my husband, a native Charlestonian.

For over a decade I coordinated public relations for Drayton Hall, a historic 18th century plantation house in Charleston. I did a little consulting work following Drayton Hall, all the while doing the power-mom dance of juggling a family of four and a career, which was anything but 9 to 5.

Yummies can be found in personal collections in United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Europe, Brazil, and the Middle East. Follow CJyummies on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

I am so happy to have found a way to share my love for color with the world. I hope my art brightens your day and leaves a smile on your face.
Enjoy!
