About

He woodworks. She paints.

Well, hi there! We appreciate you stopping by. We are Rachel + Brenton Rohler, and we are the creators and makers behind CLARK+fawn. If you are like us, you go straight to the "about" section to find out who exactly is behind your favorite products, so let's get to it!

CLARK+fawn? Where did that name come from?
Glad you asked. It's the most asked question we get at shows!
Brenton = Clark, aka Clark Kent. When we were dating he wore black rimmed glasses. Our friends called him Clark and it stuck.
Rachel = fawn, aka baby deer. It's what Rachel's mom wanted to name her when she was a little girl daydreaming about what her children's names would be.

How did you meet and where?
We are both from Alabama, and met when we were both living in Birmingham. We met through a (rather large) small group at our church. Brenton thought Rachel's name was Hannah, and Rachel thought Brenton was pronouncing his name as Britain, so needless to say they had a hard time connecting on social media. Once they finally saw each other again, Brenton figured it out, asked her out on a date via FB Messenger, and the rest is history.

How did you get started?
Rachel was busy. Like, really busy. Brenton was bored. Like, really bored. So - he needed a hobby. He started "woodworking" on the balcony of their first apartment about 6 or so months after they got married while Rachel was at work. After making a plant stand, mail holder, and a trinket box, Brenton cut out an Alabama just for fun. We decided they would make great gifts for our family, so everyone got them for Christmas that year. We were making them out of old pallets, reclaimed wood, and whatever we could find. Brenton cut out some boards for Rachel to paint, and she made Christmas decorations. People liked them. The rest is history!

What do you like to do in your free time?
We are obsessed with our dogs, Penny and Copper, so you can often find us taking them on walks. We love spending time with family and friends, and we are active in our church hosting, leading, and attending small groups every week. Brenton loves to golf, Rachel loves to sew, and they both really love to eat Mexican food. Rachel is obsessed with podcasts and Brenton digs woodworking videos.

Tell me something fun about you?
Brenton was a DJ in college and Rachel was in a hip hop dance for a feature on the local news.

How would you describe each other in three words?
Rachel: Brenton is ambitious, hilarious, and tall. Very, very tall.
Brenton: Rachel is the life of the party, driven, and detailed.
