Who is Kristi or Cakes by Kristi?
Cakes by Kristi is a Cake and Cake Topper business located in Chicago, Illinois. Owner and Operator Kristi Caccippio has been working in the production bakeries creating amazing cakes, cookies, and toppers for over seven years. Her work has landed her a coveted spot on Food Network's CAKE WARS, Netflix's Sugar Rush Christmas, and has also been published in numerous magazines. She is an award-winning sugar artist, and creates every one-of-a-kind item with lots of love, passion, and tons of precise details using only quality ingredients and materials!
Kristi attended the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois to receive not only her Associates degree in Baking and Pastry, but in Art and Science as well. When she is not caking, she can be found in the company of her dogs, Dave and Pepper.

Frequently asked questions
Once you receive your topper, make sure it is in good condition and store in a dark, room temperature area that has low humidity until you need it. DO NOT store in the refrigerator or freezer as your toppers may melt from the moisture! If your topper has wafer paper, it is VERY important to keep it away from moisture.
If for your topper somehow arrives damaged- CONTACT ME WITHIN (2) TWO DAYS of it arriving. Also be prepared to send photos of the damage as well as photos of the box it was shipped in.
Custom and personalized orders
I love custom orders! Custom orders always require AT LEAST two weeks to complete. Please contact me if you would like something you don't see in my shop!

I noticed you are in the Chicagoland area! Can you make me a cake?
No. I do not take cake orders any longer. I highly recommend ECBG Cake Studio for cake orders in the Chicagoland area as I work there part-time and do all the fondant work.
I just messaged you about a custom order. How long should I expect to wait before recieving a response?
Depending on the time of the week and the time of year, you may wait anywhere from a few hours to 4-5 days for a response from me.
Please understand that I deal with many, many orders on a weekly basis and cannot always respond in good time due to confirmed orders that need to be completed and shipped out.
I DO NOT answer messages on Saturday or Sunday regarding custom orders as I am spending time with my family.
Help! I need my topper this week! Is it possible?
In most cases, no, it is not possible to make, dry, and ship out the pieces listed in the Cakes by Kristi shop within one week. All pieces usually require at least 3-5 days to dry after being made. That being said, Cakes by Kristi does keep some of the more popular items on hand for emergency situations, so feel free to message and ask to see if the item you want is on hand.
If I order my topper(s) from you, when should I expect to recieve them?
All Cakes by Kristi items are made to order unless otherwise specified. Once your order has been placed, it generally takes a few days before I get to it depending on the amount of orders I have at the time of your purchase.

All toppers take anywhere from 2-5 days to fully dry before shipping out.
Cakes by Kristi ships using USPS priority mail. Generally, it takes about 1-5 days to ship anywhere in the continental U.S.
Do you have allergen information for your listings?
All Cakes By Kristi items are made using Satin Ice Fondant, which is vegan, gluten free, dairy free, nut free, and egg free.
Please note that some toppers may use royal icing to achieve a certain look. Royal icing DOES contain meringue powder (egg whites).
Toppers are made in a facility that processes nuts, dairy, wheat, fish, meat, and eggs. If you have a serious food allergy, it is not recommended that you purchase from Cakes by Kristi. Cakes by Kristi DOES NOT guarantee that trace particles from these allergens will not be in the air in the facility at the time of your topper(s) being made.
If the allergy is NOT life threatening, I can use different tools that have not been used with these food allergens, but you MUST let me know.
Can you color match the topper to a picture if I send you one?
I can get as close as I can to your color, but I do not guarantee a 100% match EVER. This is due to screen resolutions varying between computers. Please understand I will try my best to get the closest version of your sample.
I placed an order and it has already shipped, but I typed in the incorrect address! Can I get a refund?
No. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time to create toppers, and once they have been mailed out, I can not use them for another order. They have a limited shelf life. Please make sure your address is correct before placing an order.
How can I track my order?
All orders are shipped via USPS unless you request otherwise. USPS has been overwhelmed with the number of packages they have been receiving. Please allow 24-48 hours to allow shipping information to appear. You can track your package from your order tab by clicking on your purchase and clicking "Track package"
