Cool! Can't wait to put them on my wizard's table in the miniature castle.
Creating a peek into the past and what might have been
On and off over the years one of my favorite creative pursuits has been dollhouse miniatures. My style for these tiny treasures is primarily medieval, Tudor, and fantasy. After not being active in miniatures for nearly 20 years, my interest in them has been reignited and I started creating new pieces again about 6 years ago.
Much of my inspiration comes from history, books, music, and a rather quirky imagination. I envision my miniature medieval furnishings as those most likely to be in a knight's manor house, or the townhouse of a prosperous merchant, the cozy cottage of a master craftsman, or even a fine inn, but not in a grand palace. Also, In those long ago times, people didn't change their furniture every 20 years or so like we do today. Things were kept down thru the generations, so it would be perfectly acceptable to find a 15th century livery cupboard in an 18th century home.
Even though I tend to specialize in medieval and Tudor themed miniatures, I don't like to restrict myself to things that were common only in Europe and England. Not only were many treasures looted from the Middle East during the crusades, but the Vikings had trade routes that extended far beyond what many people would guess. For this reason I sometimes like to create miniatures with a more exotic influence. And, sometimes I just envision what might have been.
Owner, Maker, Designer
I'm happy and a bit quirky, and quite pleased to be spending my retirement creating small things of beauty.
