Thank you for switching the closing. Beautiful earrings, fast shipping. Unfortunately I will have to buy new pair. My 6 years old daughter borrowed them and won't give them back.. :-)

Keep your sterling silver and gold jewelry in airtight ziplog plastic bags and/or jewelry boxes. Anti-tarnish pouches are very helpful too as well as wrapping the jewelry in our enclosed lint-free, anti-tarnish tissue. Minimal exposure to air when not in use is the best way to keep your jewelry looking new!

To clean your jewelry and have it ready to wear, gently wipe off excess make-up and skin oils after each wearing. Use a 100% cotton cloth and gently wipe the piece clean using only the soft pads of your fingers.

Handcrafted gemstone and freshwater pearl jewelry may be delicate and should be handled with care. They should not be worn when in contact with chemicals of cleaners. We recommend using a damp cloth (with water) to gently wipe the pieces. Avoid using a silver polishing cloth on them. Dry completely with a clean soft cloth. It is usually a good idea not to immerse semi-precious stones and pearls into cleaners, ultrasonic machines or water.

Only clean your sterling silver and gold jewelry in cleaners specifically designed for them. You may have to avoid this if your piece of jewelry has a stone set in it. Instead, try a polishing cloth or mitt.

Gold jewelry reacts with chlorine. Never take your gold jewelry into a pool or spa. Taking the same precautions with gold jewelry as with sterling silver will keep your pieces beautiful and shiny for a long time.

If you are ever in question about how to clean a certain piece of jewelry, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been gold plated. Most of our gold vermeil is plated with 18K-22K gold. This is a good combination for those with allergy to normal, plated findings. The difference between gold vermeil and gold filled is in the thickness of the gold and the base metal used. In gold vermeil, the base is sterling silver. The standard is for the gold plating to be much thicker than ordinary plating.

Gold filled are made of a base metal (usually brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process using heat and pressure. Effectively a thick coat of gold, usually made with 14k gold, that is hard wearing. With reasonable care, it will not peel or flake, and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewelry. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin.

Gold plated is the least expensive method and uses a base metal such as steel or brass dipped into a bath of electroplating solution with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the color) can wear off.

Sterling silver is a mixture of pure silver and some other metal, usually copper. The resulting alloy gives the silver strength. Pure silver, also called fine silver, is defined as 99.9% pure silver, but is too soft for most uses. Sterling silver contains 92.5% silver, with the remaining 7.5% copper. Hence the .925 stamp you see on most sterling silver items. Sterling silver tarnishes simply by being in contact with the air. Pure silver is, like gold, impervious to tarnish, or oxidation on the surface. It is the alloy metal (copper) which attracts the tarnish. Some sterling silver jewelry is coated with pure silver using an electroplater to prevent tarnishing while maintaining the quality of the jewelry. This style of jewelry has a thicker coating of silver. In general, the thicker the coating, the longer it will last so long as it is cared for properly.

Sometimes, sterling silver jewelry is rhodium-plated, which is a precious metal that's part of the platinum group. Rhodium-plated sterling silver jewelry provides longer durability against tarnish and scratch.

Argentium sterling silver is highly tarnish resistant. It is a modern sterling silver alloy which modifies the traditional alloy (92.5% silver + 7.5% copper) by replacing some of the copper with the metalloid germanium. The tarnish resistance is obtained through the alloying of germanium with the silver. The result is a highly tarnish resistant material that does not require harsh chemicals to clean. If it needs cleaning it can be wiped with a soft cloth to restore the original sparkling white color. Do not use a cloth that has tarnish from conventional sterling silver as the tarnish might contaminate the Argentium silver. It can also be washed with soap and water.

Jewelry said to be "silver plated" means that it is coated with a silver coating, however the material it is actually made with can vary greatly. This method is often used for less expensive jewelry that is made of steel or other lower quality metal. Jewelry made with this material often bends, stretches, breaks, and the finish can wear off quickly.

Necklace lengths are measured from the base of the throat - if your neck measures 13 inches, then a 16 inch necklace will drape about one and one half inch below the base of the throat.

Most common types of necklace lengths:
Collar (12"-13") lies snugly around the middle of the neck.
Choker (14'-16") falls perfectly around the base of the neck.
Princess (17"-19") is the most popular necklace length and best suited for either high necklines, strapless or V-neck.
Matinee (20"-24") meets at the top of the bust line.
Opera (28"-34") long, hang at or below the bust line or are worn as double strand.
Lariat or rope (38"-40" or more) long, hang at or below the navel and can be broken down into a multi-strand necklace or bracelet. Both rope and lariat can be over 45" long, but the ends of a lariat usually wrap or knot around the neck without a clasp.

Bracelet sizes for adults:
Very Small = 6"-6.5"
Small = 7"
Medium = 7.5"
Large = 8"

To determine the bracelet size:
- Measure the wrist with a soft flexible measuring tape
- Add approx. 3/4" to 1" to the amount. If you don't have a measuring tape, you can use a ribbon or piece of string.
- Mark the length then measure with a ruler.

To determine your ring size:
- Cut a thin strip of paper
- Wrap it around the finger that you need sized. Make sure it is below the joint of your ringer and close to your knuckle.
- Mark the spot where the paper meets and measure the distance with your ruler.

Size 4 is 1 and 13/16 inches
Size 5 is 1 and 15/16 inches
Size 6 is 2 and 1/16 inches
Size 7 is 2 and 1/8 inches
Size 8 is 2 and 1/4 inches
Size 9 is 2 and 5/16 inches
Size 10 is 2 and 7/16 inches
Size 11 is 2 and 9/16 inches
Size 12 is 2 and 5/8 inches
Size 13 is 2 and 3/4 inches
