Frequently asked questions

How do I care for my candle?

The first time you light them you will need to allow for 2-3 hours of burn time or until the melt pool reaches the edge of the glass before extinguishing and always trim the wick after every use.

A soy candle will never burn wider than the first time you burn it! If done correctly your candle will burn evenly all the way down, using all of the wax!

Place on safe heat resistant surface. Keep wick trimmed to 1/4"; remove trimmings from candle. Keep wick centered for an even melt pool. Keep out of drafts and out of the reach of children and pets. Do not move while burning or while wax is hot. Do not burn when 1/4"of wax remains. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

How can I burn my candle safely?

The lid makes a wonderful candle holder. Although jar candles are usually pretty safe, I like putting my lid between my candle and my surface. This protects and makes fire hazard less.

How long will my candle burn?

Even though this is a small candle, it will burn approximately 35 hours if cared for properly.

What is soybean wax?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.

The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature.

Why burn soy?

Soy's greatest advantage is that it is completely renewable. While the global reserves of oil shrink and paraffin prices increase, the only limit to the soy supply is how much we choose to grow.

In addition to sustainability, a well-made soy candle will burn cleanly and slowly. While the performance and beauty of soy candles speak for themselves, soy wax is truly a benefit to all of us.

What is used to scent my candles?

Fragrance oils for candles consist of many aromatic ingredients. Some are made naturally and others synthetically. Natural fragrances are extracted from plants or flowers and synthetic fragrances are manufactured from man-made materials.

There are over 2,000 high-quality fragrance combinations that can be used in candles. Also, there are strict global standards set in place for the safe use of fragrance ingredients, not only in candles, but in other bath and body products as well.

What is fragrance oil?

Not all fragrance oils are created equal, but the fragrance oil company I use has gathered some of the very best into a line that's extensively tested and rated for performance in soy wax.

Our fragrance oils are a combination of natural essential oils and synthetic aroma chemicals. They are never diluted, so each has a strong concentrated aroma that doesn't disappear when burned in a candle.
