Announcement   NEWS! I now offer payment plans to suit your budget. See something that you like? Contact me to discuss. It's a great way to purchase something original and stitched by me.
I specialize in sewing and creating my handmade quilts, decorative pillows, table runners and embroidery. My vintage items are unique. I love to stitch custom!

My quilts are very different than what you usually see offered for sale. I can and do add embroidery to some of them. This makes them extra special and it enhances the fabric. Read more about this in my full profile called 'About' that appears at the bottom of each listing description.

And, finally, I can ship to another country. Contact me for a rate.

Thank you so much for the little porcelain doll head who will be placed in my Ladies Haberdashery Salon in 1:24 scale. She will be used as a countertop Hair Bow display in the little girls section of my shop. So excited I found her in your shop. 🌸

About

My Passion To Create

My passion to create is all over my shop. I quilt, I sew, I make cards.
Ideas come to me faster than I can make them. I work very well with my hands.

Sewing since I was a child...my mother made all my clothes...I grew up watching her and became very intrigued with fabric, thread, patterns, etc. the whole process. I tagged with her to fabric stores and touched each fabric. I was mesmerized with how I could make something out of just a piece of fabric. I still am mesmerized!

Going thru school I took sewing lessons and to this day I stay current with new techniques, new threads, new fabrics, etc. I work very well with my hands. Easily visualizing a sewing idea; I plan how best to create it in quilting, in embroidery or in stitching a garment.

I garden and paint in watercolor the flowers in my yard. I feature my roses many times in my work. You can see my back yard flower garden, custom work I have done, my dog Bon Bon, etc. at www.Pinterest.com/candytheartist AND at www.facebook.com/candytheartist

Quilting can be done so many ways: on just one piece of fabric ( called whole cloth quilting ), on a pre printed fabric panel or on individual stitched together pieces of fabric. Quilting is the stitching of a pattern or motif onto fabric. I stitch all of these methods. Too, I quilt ( stitch) free hand and not computer aided. This sets my work apart from commercially made quilts where a computer program is selected and stitched. What I do can be very labor intensive; but it also creates one of a kind quilts that you will be proud to show others.

My addition of embroidery further adds uniqueness and dimension to my quilts, pillows, wall hangings, table runners, cards, etc. You will not find commercially made quilts with embroidery. It too can be labor intensive.

I LOVE to create custom work as it especially brings out the artist in me. I aim to please, I communicate with you to get just what you want and now I even offer payment plans to suit your needs. I use all my skills to create one of a kind works of art that YOU can cuddle with, decorate with, display in your home and give as gifts.

I use two different sewing machines that also have embroidery capabilities as well as a longarm sewing machine that accommodates all sizes of quilts.

And, I can't forget my vintage items. Each one is chosen on an individual basis for its beauty and well made construction so as to bring happiness and add to your home décor...just like my handmade sewn quilts, pillows, etc. are designed to do.

I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Candy Abel

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Yes, I do create custom! I work with you concerning colors, fabrics, time frame ( do tell me how fast you need something), special requests, etc. JUST ASK!

Care instructions

Generally basic fabric care instructions are listed with my quilts and table toppers. Mostly I am sewing with cotton fabrics which can be machine washed, even my embroidered items. However, I do suggest that large quilts, queen size and bigger be taken to a commercial laundry for either washing or dry cleaning; simply because of their size and for ease of handling.

I do include care instructions with your purchase. Please ask if you have any concerns.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Is readily available for most items, I can even include a card with your message if you choose. The cost will depend upon the item or items.
