MEET ROBERT, THE ARTIST BEHIND NOIRCI STUDIO
Robert Lawrence is a Black artist who paints the people who raised him. He grew up in Atlanta in the late eighties, in a house full of strong Black women and jazz in the kitchen. He trained in fine art at Clark Atlanta University, one of the HBCUs that kept Black American art alive inside the academy, where he studied the painters he loved as a kid: Jacob Lawrence, Aaron Douglas, Elizabeth Catlett, Jean Michel Basquiat.
Twenty years and over a hundred originals later, every design still begins as a hand painted oil or watercolor original in his studio. Each one is then reproduced as a museum grade giclée canvas print on acid free archival canvas, with pigment inks rated to last a hundred years or more. Prints come ready to hang in a range of sizes, from small accent pieces to large statement walls, and ship worldwide. The print you hang this year will still look like itself decades from now.
