Emma was super helpful with the design - sent me a first draft, then changed a few things that I wanted with no problems. I really enjoyed making it, though it was a bigger project then I had expected, it did mean I had lots more time enjoying it! My partner loved it too (as it was a gift for him). Definitely will order one for me so we can both have one! Thanks Emma :)

I love it when a plan comes together! Finding this muted green Japanese linen to complement the aged Legend of Zelda pattern was a stroke of luck! The end result is perfect if you ask me!

About

The home of geeky stitches.

Capes and Crafts is run by Emma and Steve, otherwise known as the lady Cape and the beardy Cape. The store was born when the lady Cape finally decided that she'd never be great at knitting and needed another craft to occupy her hands. She went back to cross stitching, and dragged the beardy Cape along for the ride, teaching him everything he'd need to know. But the two caped crafters really felt that there were a lack of patterns that suited their geeky, offbeat tastes.

So, they started creating their own patterns. The patterns usually begin life when they hear a great line in a TV show or movie, or when they fall in love with a character. Basically, whenever they think something is awesome, they start brainstorming ways to turn it into a sampler! And finding like-minded people in their lovely customers, who wanted to stitch something unique and nerdy, was amazing!

The store's range is ever expanding, including kits, geeky gifts in wonderful fabrics and greeting cards, with more new products planned for 2015.

We happily welcome custom orders, both physical and digital. If you would like us to stitch up a pattern for you, just drop us a line and we'll give you a quote. Custom PDF patterns cost between £5.00 and £15.00 depending on the size and complexity, and will usually be designed and sent to you within a week of your order. During the design process we will keep in touch with you to let you know how your order is progressing and alert you to any delays.

Customers within the EU should be aware that as of 2015, new VAT rules have come into effect which mean that digital files, like our patterns, now attract VAT at the rate for the country the buyer is based in. Previously, under UK VAT laws, there was no tax to pay on our patterns, but now the cost will vary depending on where you live within the EU. The price you see displayed now includes VAT. Customers outside of the EU will see no differences.
