All fish print are originals, and not reproductions.

I am a professional sportfishing captain and fish in Costa Rica, Panama, Galapagos and Tahiti. You can find my website at I started doing Gyotaku a few years ago as it is a great way to record the fish and then to preserve it as a piece of art after it has been consumed. Gyotaku is a fish printing art created by Japanese warlords in the early 1800's in order to record their catches. After my fishing day is over I brush the fish with a non toxic acrylic paint and rub it onto mulberry paper. After the printing process is done, the freshly caught fish is washed off, filleted and then safely consumed.

Reproductions of my art can be purchased at major online retailers and box stores like Walmart, Overstock and Wayfair.

For more info on the history of Gyotaku see this short video:

Frequently asked questions
Are your fish rubbings original or prints?

All my work is original. Besides the calendars, I do not offer prints. Each item in my shop is a one-of-a-kind fish rubbing.

Why do some fish rubbings look alike?

A single fish can provide several rubbings. Although they may look alike, each rubbing is unique.

Can I get a small fish?

The fish rubbing is life size and represents the actual size of the fish caught. I fish for deep sea fish which tend to be large in size.

Can I get my own Gyoataku fish rubbing?

Join me on a guided fishing trip to Panama and I will rub your catch for free!
