En primer lugar, soy un coleccionista de plantas raras y en miniatura. He pasado años adquiriendo mis plantas de otras personas responsables. Tengo un gran respeto por la naturaleza, y nunca colecciono nada. Yo personalmente propagro todas las plantas utilizadas en mis jardines. Son verdaderos tropicales que se mantienen pequeños y prosperan en las condiciones húmedas que proporciona una botella. Algunos de ellos no se pueden encontrar en ningún otro lugar, y mucho menos en otro terrario. Las botellas utilizadas siguen esos mismos valores, y se reciclan o reutilizan. Muchos de ellos están literalmente sacados de contenedores de basura tras las rejas (¡Este es un punto de venta!?). De vez en cuando me encuentro con una pieza vintage, específica del terrario, que tengo que tener, pero no compraré nueva. El plástico no es 100% una opción. Estoy profundamente preocupado por nuestro medio ambiente. Espero que dar a la gente la opción de llevarse a casa un pedacito de la naturaleza capturada ayude a difundir el respeto por el mundo natural. Tenga en cuenta también que muchos otros terrarios utilizan recipientes recién fabricados con un propósito específico, y los llenan con musgos y plantas arrancadas irresponsablemente de nuestros bosques. Parte de la alegría contenida en esta empresa para mí es crear un jardín a través de la boca de una botella. Me gusta tanto el desafío como el capricho que resulta. First and foremost, I am a rare and miniature plant collector. I have spent years acquiring my plants from other responsible individuals. I have a great deal of respect for nature, and I never wild collect anything. I personally propagate all plants used in my gardens. They are true tropicals which stay small, and thrive in the humid conditions a bottle provides. Some of them cannot be found anywhere else, let alone in another terrarium. The bottles used follow those same values, and they are upcycled or repurposed. Many of them are literally dug out of dumpsters behind bars (This is a selling point!?). I do occasionally come across a vintage, terrarium specific, piece that I have to have, but I will not buy new. Plastic is 100% not an option. I am deeply concerned about our environment. I hope that giving people the option to take home a little piece of captured nature will help spread respect for the natural world. Please also be aware that many other terrariums use vessels newly manufactured with one specific purpose, and fill them with mosses and plants irresponsibly ripped from our forests. I respectfully request you inquire before you purchase.
Part of the joy contained in this venture for me is creating a garden through the mouth of a bottle. I like both the challenge and whimsy that results. Having done this for some years, I quickly discovered the difficulty in finding and purchasing tools to accomplish my goals. So, I started creating my own, and then I started making them available to others. Some are the classic bottle garden tools you can read about in many terrariums books, and others are more complex. Through necessity, trial and error, I developed a few tools of my own unique design that I found invaluable in the upkeep of a bottle garden. I hope they help any hobbyists out there.
