3 out of 5 starsOrnament arrived on time, and packaged appropriately. Front and back of the ornament look great, and are as pictured. However, the joint between the front piece and back piece look a little sloppy, like the paint wasn't cleaned up prior to shipping. Will be touching up with yellow or black paint on at the joint before giving as a gift.

My second San Japan 12.5-2021

My first appearance at San Japan 2019. Was not prepared at all but still learning.

Wizards and Wands Show 2020. Looking better but still creating my look.
It all started in the past.
The summer before my 18th birthday, what would have been my senior year of high school I got a virus called encephalitis (swelling in the brain), I lost out on a major part of my life. The year spent in the hospital, the years it took to recover relearning how to do the simple things in life, took apart of me I still feel I’ll never get back. Till this day my past is still blurred by the longing effects of the virus and I can still feel my brain failing my body sometimes. When I turned 23, I decided to put that part of life behind me. I applied to the Art Institute of San Antonio a thousand miles away, got my associates in baking and pastries and a bachelors in culinary management. Of course, my love for learning didn’t stop there and fiddling with the idea of teaching and my own craft business I applied to University of Texas San Antonio for my masters of science in business. However, working full time jobs, a full-time school schedule and becoming independent, this decision almost destroyed me. I learned that I have ADHD, depression and anxiety that could be related to the virus from years ago. I failed three times and yet still went back to try again. It took 2 years longer to finish my masters and I’m proud to say as of May 2020, I’m officially done with school and three degrees under my belt. I honestly would have regretted going to UTSA if I hadn’t gotten this one thing out of it, my business name.
I wanted a name that would fix style of work as much of how I live my life. With the ability to expand into any category with out being tied down by a name. One day in class a classmate came to me with the perfect name Carafully Created. It wasn’t long before Frank (my boyfriend) and I took it to get it officially register to me before I even had a clear concept on what to sell.
During Christmas 2018 I was sitting at home making ornaments something I had been doing with my mom since I was a little girl, I thought about when she would travel for work, we would bring our craft supply to the hotels and make ornaments to no end. Then we would give them out as presents to the people we would meet along the way. I loved the feeling of seeing people admire the things I made and compliment the creativity behind it. Every year it was important to create something new and unique. This is what I wanted my business to be, this is something I wanted to sell.
My second idea came with some help from Frank. Though I had lived in San Antonio for three year I had never attended a convention before I meet Frank. Our first outing was to PAX 2016 when he invited me to hangout out of work. We spent the day playing games, shopping for fandom items and getting to no one another. It was this day I knew he would be important to me. After we started dating, he introduced me to his world of anime and conventions, he took me to my first San Japan in 2016 and it was amazing. The artist in the Artist Alley took my breath away, the cosplay enchanted me and I wanted to be a part of this world. We had also attended Pokéfest where my love for Pokémon got my creative side flowing. I admired the Pokémon globes that had become a fanam anon and took a try at creating one. After my Pokémon globe turned out amazing, I wonder what else could I make a globe and hence the Spyro globe was born.
After I had a name to my business and product ideas, I just need a place to officially debut the business. We applied for San Japans Artist Alley for 2019 and we got it. Carafully Created was a hit and though I was not fully prepared for the event my Spyro and Pokémon globes sold out.
I’ve been a crafter my whole life, my business is very new and I’m still learning, but the one thing I know is that somewhere out there someone has one of my globes or ornament that brings them joy like it brought me when I was making it.
