Stemming from my both love of baking and endless dedication to gardening, Carriage House Cookies officially began in the Spring of 2018. After months of bringing my pressed flower shortbread cookies to parties and giving them as gifts, I finally decided to heed everyone's advice and try making a business out of my passion. And in these past few months I have found a joy in this work that extends far beyond what I had imagined.
Because I find gardening to be the best way for me to disconnect from the daily grind and literally get my hands dirty, having an excuse to grow flowers most of the year round has been therapeutic. Being able to use my flowers in an artistic way, as I hand decorate each cookie, feels like such a gift at this point in my life. And while perfecting my organic shortbread recipe has really broadened my baking skills, it has also provided an outlook on ingredients that I am now starting to implement in all of my cooking.
However, the most rewarding aspect of my newly launched business is the connection with my customers. My philosophy is to treat each customer as though they were my first and the interactions I have with them after they have received their cookies has made this entire endeavor so incredibly fulfilling.
