CONTACT LIST:

If you would like to be notified by email when new work is available, please send me a message here, or email me at: info (at) carriegoller.com and I will put you on my contact list. Cheers, and thanks for visiting!

I have a newfound love of sculpture! I also love to paint luminous oils and vibrant encaustic beeswax paintings from my two studios: one for encaustic in a Norwegian village in Washington and the other on the Hood Canal for oil and tempera. Although I love birds, nests and eggs, I paint a wide range of subject matter in several styles. Currently I am enjoying painting from vintage family photographs. I hope you enjoy my shop!

I am a Pacific Northwest visual artist painting primarily in oils, encaustic and mixed media. I started painting after a bout with breast cancer, which changed my life. I especially love encaustic! Please see "Additional Information" below for more information on encaustic.

I have work in collections throughout the U.S. and in several other countries. You can be sure that you are getting a genuine Carrie Goller high quality artwork. Thank you for visiting my shop and please take a peek into my studio at www.CarrieGoller.com.

COMMISSIONS / GICLEES / PRINTS

If you see a painting that has sold and would like a giclee print please let me know! I'm always open for commissioned pieces, and I will consider making a similar piece if you liked something you saw that was sold previously. For instance, my encaustic Raven Guardians can be made in custom colors. I prefer to start with an original idea to keep the collecting value and the originality of my work.

Just Send me a private conversation to start your commissioned request. I'm always willing to hear your ideas!

WHAT IS ENCAUSTIC?

Encaustic is the very earliest known form of paint, first used by the Greeks over 2000 years ago. The amazing Fayum Mummy Portraits were painted in encaustic by the Greeks in Egypt. They are still fresh and vibrant, and are exhibited today in the world's greatest galleries.

Encaustic painting involves melting, applying, then heat fusing layers of beeswax (resin and pigment can be added). The wax gives an optical depth unique to the medium.

Encaustic has returned from obscurity as modern tools have made the process more practical. Diego Rivera used encaustic in the 1930's on his murals. Jasper Johns is credited with the current renaissance of encaustic fine art with his work that began in the 1950's.

"Why paint in a process-intensive medium that's over 2000 years old?" is rarely asked. That answer is a given: luminosity, rich surface, the beauty of the wax.

Carrie Goller interprets this ancient medium into very contemporary work, creating paintings with brilliant luminosity, as well as some with a rich, delicate opalescence. Maintaining their freshness and intensity, they will not darken or yellow. Because of the protective nature of wax they are impervious to moisture and need not be varnished or put under glass.

Please note: Handle Carefully, encaustic is delicate and should not be banged, dropped or subjected to heat.
