Finding Home, One Creation at a Time
Cat Box Crafts was born from two dreams: creating things I love and building a future where my family and I can finally have a permanent place to call home.
My shop specializes in handcrafted jewelry and accessories inspired by fantasy, folklore, horror, mythology, and the occult. One of my greatest joys as a maker is taking ideas that exist only in legends, folklore, mythology, and the mysterious, then finding a way to bring them into the real world. I love creating pieces that let people wear the stories, creatures, and worlds that inspire them.
But the name "Cat Box Crafts" comes from a very real story.
One cloudy morning on my walk to the bus stop with my sister, a tiny kitten suddenly tumbled into my leg. He couldn't have been more than a month old. Someone had abandoned him in a worn cardboard box with a small bowl of water nearby. His fur was tangled with gum, and after we cleaned him up and fed him kitten milk, he curled up on my sister's lap and peacefully fell asleep.
As comforting as that moment was, we soon discovered he had a serious wound on his neck. Although our apartment didn't allow pets and we desperately wished we could keep him, we knew he needed medical care and deserved the chance at a better life. Taking him to the shelter was one of the hardest things we had ever done.
For weeks afterward, we checked the shelter's adoption page almost every day until the wonderful news finally appeared that he, "Smudge", had been adopted into a new home. That little kitten, peeking out from his cardboard box and hoping his next stop would be his forever home, stayed with us. In many ways, we understood that feeling ourselves. We were also hoping to one day find a place we could truly call home.
That's where Cat Box Crafts got its name, and why our logo is inspired by that tiny kitten.
Every purchase helps support both my passion for creating meaningful handmade pieces and my family's dream of one day having a permanent home of our own.
