Cathy's Cottage is where my home and studio are located, in Napa Valley, California. I've lived in this valley for a number of years and have grown to love it very much. It is a wee bit of shangri-la; a uniquely protected and unspoiled valley in the midst of the greater Bay Area which is very full of development and people. Napa has its millions of visitors of course, who travel to this place for it's world class wine and food. Napa also has a small but thriving arts community which has really come into its own in recent years. The town of Napa is also experiencing a great renaissance which continues to build momentum as the core of our downtown transforms, realizing plans that have been in the making for years. Napa retains it's very small town charm where people know each other, the mayor answers the phone, and everyone rubs elbows. Great wine and food really bring people together and I feel like I live in paradise every day here. I love that it is not an easy place to get to or leave from, and it is not on the way to anywhere else. Living here is slower paced. You really can leave your door unlocked, and borrow a cup of organic honey from your nextdoor neighbor. Just like that campy 70's film "Lost Horizon", it feels like if you leave this amazing place you will shrivel up and die like a normal person, but if you stay you could live a very long life in the best of health and happiness.
