About

Welcome to the soft world of CatsInPairs!

Here you will find needle felted creations made of wool. First, it was mainly cats, but I'm gradually moving towards other themes. My favourite subject at the moment is all relating to walnut shells. I'm experimenting a lot with this natural 'frame' to my felted animals, adding new listings regularly.

Everything here has been handmade by me in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, England - the birthplace of William Shakespeare... and felted animals.

If you are new to needle felting, this is a process which uses barbed needles to interlock wool fibres to form a more condensed material. When you stab the needle into the wool, the barbs pull and push the wool fibres until it all becomes dense. It's basically sculpting out of wool. It is a time-consuming process. You have to stab and poke wool several hundred and thousand times to get the desired shape. One cat ornament needs at least 10.000 stabs. But it's all worth it. Nothing feels better than to hold a soft and light felted object in your hand.

I make lots of animal figures but you will find greeting cards, jewellery and other ornaments too.

The very first time I touched soft wool in my hand, I fell in love. Wool is the most versatile material there is. It is environmentally friendly, sustainable and great to work with!

From time to time I add new listings, so please check back if you like what you see. If you'd like to know a bit more about the process, get new gift ideas or participate in competitions, follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

Additional policies and FAQs
WARNING OF CHOKING HAZARD: None of my items are intended to be toys. Please don't give them to young children. The items listed here are delicate and contain small parts, which could be a choking hazard.

ALLERGY NOTE: These items are made of animal fibres. I mainly use sheep wool but occasionally also alpaca fibre, horse hair and other. Jewellery: earring hooks are plated with Sterling silver. Jump rings, clasps, pins are made of different non-precious metals. (I always list materials used in the item's listing info.)

HOW TO CARE FOR NEEDLE FELTED FIGURES?
A finished needle felted object does not like water, so please never wash it. Wool will shrink when in touch with water. The best you can do is to keep it somewhere safe and give it a gentle dusting from time to time. Needle felted figures are usually delicate, so lots of handling and touching does not help them either, though it’s hard to resist!
In case of jewellery, if it gets stained, you might try to gently wipe it with a wet sponge, but unfortunately it may cause some shrinkage or deformation.

TERMS of business: All sales are subject to English Law.
