Announcement   I know...the cupboard is bare! I opened the shop though and that's a start, right??? I'll be adding listings within a week or so. For now, I won't be taking custom requests. I just need to get my feet wet here again after being alone in my studio for so long ;-) So much has changed here on Etsy!

~

The pieces I create are mostly wheel thrown and embellished from bits of willing clay that I sculpt into vines and flowers and birds and cats and dogs and whatever else happens into my line of sight as I play in the mud. A wheel thrown form is my blank canvas. Every piece is one of a kind. I sculpt all the "bits" that embellish my ceramic work. No molds or extruders are used. Only my hands and a few simple tools.

If you'd like to get a heads up on sales, new work or just learn more about my life, my work, or me, please stop by...

About

All I ever wanted to be was an artist.

My favorite medium right now is clay. I love everything about it. I love that it is mud. I love that I can play with mud from all over the world. Some is stiff and full of minerals that react with the glaze when fired. Some is snowy white and completely smooth, like corn starch mixed with water, and is a perfect blank canvas to receive what ever color I choose without bias. I love that every bag of clay brings with it the memory of where it came from.

I like making useful things beautiful and whimsical. I like the idea of feeling a bird in your hand as you lift the lid of a jar or enjoy your morning cuppa.

It's my hope that my pottery brings a little happiness to those who choose to bring it into their homes.

My grandmother would remind me to "watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves". I think of life's small moments like that. Take care of the small moments and our lives will take care of themselves. Small special moments add up to a significant and fulfilling life.

I'm grateful for the opportunity Etsy gives me everyday to connect with folks I'd never otherwise have a chance to meet. I "talk" to people all over the world. I've become close with other artisans on Etsy and several people who began as customers have become friends. I've shipped my work as close as the next county and as far as Nepal...Etsy has made the world a much smaller place...and I like to think friendlier too.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my work a little better!

Cheers, Melissa

Shipping
I ship within a day or two via USPS Priority Mail or FedEx Ground, whichever is less expensive. For the heavier or larger pieces FedEx is almost always much cheaper. I charge only actual cost for shipping. If shipping costs are less than I charge you, I refund the difference via PayPal. International orders: contact me before purchasing to determine costs please.

International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; I have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond my original delivery estimates. All international orders will have full value declared on customs forms - sorry, no exceptions.
Refunds and Exchanges
I have been shipping my artwork for more than 20 years now. Very few pieces break. If one does it's usually very obvious the box was run over, or something else traumatic happened to it!. Since everything in my shop is one of a kind I do my best to make sure it gets to you safely.

Contact me immediately if an item arrives broken. Please be prepared to send a photograph of the broken piece to insure a refund.

If you absolutely are not happy with an item purchased please write me and we'll talk about it and we'll figure out a way to make you happy!

****Custom Orders: When you order a custom piece we will have several conversations to insure we agree on the details of your order. If you request it, I will send you a photo of the item in it's green ware state so you may have final approval before the item is bisque fired. I can also, upon request, send a photo of the item before I ship it. All sales are final on custom orders.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you have any questions, requests, or concerns please write and I'll get back to you as soon as I can...usually the same day. Thanks again for your interest.

I apply 8.75% sales tax to orders shipped within California.
