CelticTraveller's Shop Announcement

Welcome to my shop! All my items are inspired by the beauty and history of Ireland, the Gaelic and the Celtic peoples. I hope you find something you enjoy, and want to make it a part of your life. Thanks for stopping in!

In 1926, the newly founded Irish Free State began planning for a new Irish coinage. The decision was made to use the Irish harp, the national symbol in use since the 1530's, with the reverse designs featuring a series of animals important to Ireland's mainly agricultural economy.

These coins have long since been replaced by the Euro coinage, but each of the old coins is beautiful, full of character and history. Made of bronze, cupro-nickel, and coin silver, these coins make lovely pendants for necklaces. I have quite a collection of the old Irish Free State coins: if you'd like one in your birth year, let me know and I see what I have on hand.

The legacy of the Celtic people is full of symbolism and legend. My Celtic necklaces let you keep a reminder of the Celts close to your heart. The Book of Kells and other illuminated manuscripts gave us beautiful examples of Celtic knots, zoomorphic creatures, and the Celtic crosses. I hang each pendant from braided Irish waxed linen cords (I braid myself), Greek leather cords, or chains in sterling silver, copper and bronze.
