After a period of medical leave I have returned to the lathe. In the midst of the Corona endemic there is more to discover and create. I will be renewing listings of current inventory and adding new creations in the coming weeks. There is also a new blog page to check out the musings of the StrawBoss.

5 out of 5 starsThis bowl is a standout - so beautifully crafted. The grain of the mahogany shines through with a gorgeous variation of tones. The shallow design is modern and simple, with a distinctive edge and subtle pedestal base. I love to set it out alone as an artistic centerpiece, but I also use it to display fruit or serve other food items. I know I will enjoy its versatility for years to come - it is such a uniquely beautiful and classic piece.

Turn a tree to new life;
When a tree is cut down its life begins. Reportedly John Meur made that observation in the context of preserving the Red Wood and Sequoia trees on the Pacific Coast. The balance between preservation, restoration, and utilization is a constant tension. Every time I turn a block of wood and watch the chips and ribbons of "waste" fly by my arm and face, the joy of the emerging shape, texture, and grain pattern is amazing. Life, function, sensual awareness, and pleasure gratification abound in the holding of each emerging and finished piece. Appreciation from those gifted with these creations give further testament to the new life and longevity of the tree. Creating useful artistic objects for home decor or gifting is the focus of every project, Bowls become vessels of visual and tactile enjoyment. Handles for kitchen utensils, back scratcher, shoe horn, or pepper grinder provide sensual awareness of color, shape, and pattern in the cuts through growth rings and "defects" of environment impact. The object tells a silent story of life changes and provides a new living opportunity with every use or observation. Finished in natural bees wax and canoba oil the natural luster of wood enhances the new life experience of the home or office. Hope you enjoy the mystery and appreciation for your choice of life giving tree sourced and turned product
