The Journey Begins
Grazie mille per aver visitato il mio negozio: Chalks O Lot! Vorrei poter visitare con te di persona, quindi dovresti sapere un po 'di me. Ecco il mio tentativo di una storia.... resta con me!
Questo negozio è iniziato con un trasferimento, ed è stato un grande trasferimento per me. Nel 2013 mi sono trasferito da Denver, Colorado, alle Twin Cities. L'ho fatto per essere più vicino alla famiglia - e alla mia nipotina appena nata! - ma non avrei mai potuto sapere quanto mi sarebbe mancato l'eterno sole del Colorado e l'onnipresente vista delle montagne. Aggiungete a questo, il fatto che il Lago Superiore quasi congelato completamente (NON SCHERZO!) il mio primo inverno qui, e avevo un serio bisogno di un po 'di TLC e felicità.
Per tenermi occupato durante quel lungo, primo inverno, ho iniziato a dipingere. Ho comprato una lattina di Old Ochre di Annie Sloan, un pennello e cera trasparente e ho dipinto una capanna cinese recuperata. Ad oggi, è il progetto più grande e dispendioso in termini di tempo che ho iniziato e finito. Ne sono stato immediatamente dipendente e ho iniziato a collezionare e dipingere così tanti mobili che non avevo più spazi in casa per usarli tutti! Ho lavorato in alcuni negozi locali e ho viaggiato per lo stato facendo spettacoli prima di aprire finalmente il mio negozio Etsy nel 2014. Ero terrorizzato dalla sconfitta e non avrei mai sognato di poter gestire un negozio online. Sono una nonna, per carità!
Bene, ho appena finito il mio primo anno e non posso dirvi quanto amo il mio nuovo lavoro, amo i miei clienti e amo setacciare lo stato del Minnesota per mobili vintage e decorazioni per la casa. Sono una persona fieramente appassionata e dedicata, ma il successo del mio negozio è dovuto a molto di più. Credo davvero che Etsy sia una piattaforma rivoluzionaria per i proprietari di piccole imprese e sono così felice di condividere in questa comunità.
Quindi, ora ti ho tolto l'orecchio, e sono sicuro che ti stai stancando di me. Concludo dicendo che faccio davvero del mio meglio per fornire a ogni cliente tesori senza tempo e un'esperienza di acquisto superba. Non vedo l'ora di lavorare con voi!

Post scriptum Il nome "Chalks O Lot" è stata un'idea di mia figlia. Ha "gesso" nel titolo (cioè vernice di gesso - dove è iniziata l'intera idea) e suona estremamente simile a "cioccolato"... e mi capita di avere abbastanza il debole per i dolci.
AGGIORNAMENTO: Ho recentemente spostato il mio negozio DI NUOVO A DENVER !! Sono così felice di essere tornato nello stato con 300 giorni di sole e molto motivato a portare prodotti nuovi e ispirati nel mio negozio. Si prega di controllare spesso!
Thank you so much for visiting my shop: Chalks O Lot! I wish I could visit with you in person, so you should know a little about me. Here's my attempt at a story....stick with me!
This shop began with a relocation, and it was a big relocation for me. In 2013, I moved from Denver, Colorado to the Twin Cities. I did this to be closer to family - and my newborn granddaughter! - but I could never have known how much I would miss the everlasting Colorado sunshine and the ever present view of the mountains. Add to this, the fact that Lake Superior almost froze completely (NO JOKE!) my first winter here, and I was in serious need of some TLC and happiness.
To keep myself busy during that long, first winter, I started painting. I bought a can of Annie Sloan's Old Ochre, a paintbrush, and clear wax and I painted a salvaged China hutch. To date, it is the largest and most time consuming project I have started and finished. I was instantly addicted, and began collecting and painting so much furniture that I no longer had any spaces in my home to use it all! I worked in a few local stores and traveled the state doing shows before I finally opened up my Etsy shop in 2014. I was terrified of defeat, and never dreamt that I could run an online shop. I am a grandmother, for goodness sakes!
Well, I just finished my first year, and I cannot tell you how much I love my new job, love my customers, and love scouring the state of Minnesota for vintage furniture and home decor. I am a fiercely passionate and dedicated person, but the success of my shop is due to much more than that. I really do believe that Etsy is a breakthrough platform for small business owners, and am so happy to share in this community.
So, now I have talked your ear off, and I am sure you are getting sick of me. I will end by saying that I truly do my best to provide each customer with timeless treasures and a superb shopping experience. I look forward to working with you!

P.S. The name "Chalks O Lot" was my daughter's idea. It has "chalk" in the title (i.e. chalk paint - where the whole idea began) and it sounds extremely similar to "chocolate"...and I happen to have quite the sweet tooth.
UPDATE: I have recently moved my shop BACK TO DENVER!! I am so happy to be back in the state with 300 days of sunshine, and very motivated to bring new and inspired products to my shop. Please check back often!
