About ChaosCollectedShop
Well-Designed + Earth Friendly = Chaos, Collected
"More than 15 million tons of used textile waste is generated each year in the United States, and the amount has doubled over the last 20 years. An average American throws away approximately 80 pounds of used clothing per person. On average, nationally, it costs cities $45 per ton to dispose of old clothing. Synthetic clothing may take hundreds of years to decompose." (source: https://www.thebalance.com/textile-recycling-facts-and-figures-2878122)
I've always known that way too much usable material ends up wasted. That's the main reason I am a huge "pack rat" when it comes to things like fabric and old clothes.
For years I have been saving itty bitty pieces of fabric leftover from other sewing projects, clothes that have seen better days & random buttons that don't match. I have over 15 years sewing experience + as many years hoarding such items.
For me it is just wrong to throw away perfectly usable items like these & let them sit in a landfill when all they need is a little love and attention. As a result my house is pretty much overrun!
I decided to start this line as a way to do my part (however small) to chip away at the above figure and to make some space in my sewing room as well. Perhaps also open a few minds?
The items found in my shop are all one of a kind. They are made with lightly used + vintage items such as: clothes, sheets, curtains and other assorted odds & ends. I also use scraps of fabric leftover from other projects I've worked on over the years.
All of these things combine to give Chaos Collected it's unique flavor. No two items are exactly alike & any combination of the above may exist to create each one.
I personally design + sew each item myself. I sew on a Viking sewing machine, a Juki sewing machine and a Juki serger to create pieces that are worth owning & will last long enough to be kept out of landfills.

>>>PLEASE READ<<<
The materials used to make my items come from scraps leftover from other projects & upcycled/recycled textiles along with organic cotton. Due to the nature of my process there may be variations in texture between the different materials used. I pretty much let the fabric do what it wants :)
For this reason my items don't look the way you might be used to. There might be waves, wrinkles, fading etc. If you're looking for precision piecing & quilting there are lots of amazingly talented quilters here on Etsy. That's just not what I do. That said, please look at the photos carefully & ask any questions before checking out.
