Note from shop owner Hi all! My shop will be closed for a while, as I need to spread myself thin over some other interests and responsibilities at the moment. :)

As soon as things settle down a bit, I can devote my attention once again to making jewelry and running my shop. Until then, happy Etsy shopping!

About

The tale of a cheeky chick...

I started Cheeky Chick Designs and opened my little shop in early Spring, 2012. I was so excited to finally join the Etsy community, full of artists I'd admired for a long time. These are my people...creative, quirky, expressive, and fun. :)

Like pretty much everyone else in this community, I grew up needing to express myself in creative ways. When I was little, my brother and I used to draw and write stories together. Our imaginations took us anywhere we wanted to go, which was a good thing because we didn't have a lot of money growing up. With our imaginations, we soared.

While my brother became an artist, I veered more toward writing. I wrote poems and short stories for myself for a long time. All these stories, thoughts, and feelings were floating around in my head and wouldn't leave me alone until I put pen to paper and let them out.

Then I started writing professionally and became a freelance copywriter here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. While it was nice to be paid for something I enjoyed, it didn't fulfill me too much creatively to write about things that were - most of the time - quite boring.

I dreamed of being a novelist and started - and stopped - about a dozen books during that time. Being a novelist requires something I apparently don't have in enough abundance: patience.

About that time I got married, then pregnant, so I concentrated on keeping my head above water with the whole Mommy thing. Boy oh boy does THAT change your life. As my son got older and easier I started getting the creative itch again and somehow I got it in my head to try my hand at jewelry making.

Now, I think outside the box in all areas of my life so I thought it'd be fun to apply that to jewelry design too. I am not a woman who follows trends or worries about what people think of me. I am who I am, and I like me like that (hence the name Cheeky Chick). I hope my jewelry reflects that confidence, boldness, and originality. While I'm a bit of tomboy, I am also a fanatic about flowers and nature, so that's a big part of my inspiration too.

My creative process is usually me sitting down at my desk, sorting through all my odds and ends, and finding something that makes me say, "Hmmm, what can I do with this?". That is so exciting for me, and I'm sometimes surprised at what I wind up putting together.

I hope to go back to writing as well someday, and still dream of being a novelist. But for now, Cheeky Chick Designs is my passion and the only one I have time for until my son gets a bit older and decides he doesn't need me for constant entertainment. Perhaps then you'll see my name on the latest bestselling book. :)

I love what I do, and I hope it shows. Welcome to my world.

I'm a Mom of a fantastic little boy and wife to my best friend. Both keep me laughing and make me a better person. I'm a bit of a hippie at heart. "Be Kind" and "Be Yourself" are my mantras...a legacy for my son. Enjoy your visit to my shop!

** A little note: Although on the sidebar it says my shop has been open since 2010, I actually "opened my doors" the beginning of 2012. I only grabbed the name back then because I knew that's what I wanted to name my little corner of Etsy when I was able to get my dream up and running, and be able to devote enough time to run it professionalIy. I am thrilled to finally be here and fully operational!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I now accept direct payment with credit cards or Etsy gift cards. PayPal is, of course, accepted as well. Items will be shipped within 2 business days after payment is made, unless I am out of town which would be noted in my Shop Announcement.
Shipping
PLEASE READ: IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFO: I ship worldwide, via USPS Mail, PARCEL POST. Item will ship within 2 business days upon receipt of payment. USPS Parcel Post is the most economical way for me to ship, but please be aware that I am shipping from Texas, so if you are in a far North state in the US, it could take up to 5 business days to arrive (although an average time to NY is 4 business days). Obviously, shipping Parcel Post to International destinations will take some time, so please allow for that.

** If you need your item quicker, I can ship Priority Mail or Overnight, and will bill your PayPal account accordingly. Priority Mail is typically $3 more in the US, on average, to ship and arrives within a couple of days. Priority Mail International is much more expensive. (For instance, shipping to Switzerland is around $6 for Parcel Post, $34 or more for Priority). Overnight shipping is extremely expensive, pretty much on par with UPS or FedEx. Shipping insurance is optional, at an added fee.

If the item is a gift for someone, and you need it shipped to a different address please let me know in your notes to seller and/or a convo and I will be happy to do that for you. I will also be happy to include a gift note with whatever wording you would like, at no extra charge.

ALL of my packages are wrapped prettily, ready to give as a gift - for yourself or someone else - for no extra fee. Just my way of showing my appreciation to you!
Refunds and Exchanges
Satisfaction and repeat patronage are my #1 goal. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, or if it's damaged in transit, please contact me and I will do everything I can to make you a satisfied customer.

** PLEASE NOTE: I make every effort to take pictures that accurately reflect how each piece looks (both while wearing and off), and I also describe each one as accurately as possible in the listing so you know exactly what you're getting when you order. If you feel that I failed to accurately depict a piece, please let me know via convo and I will be happy to refund your transaction in whole, or you may exchange it for another item you like of same or lesser value. If lesser value, the difference will be refunded to your PayPal account. Item must be returned in its original condition BEFORE exchange or refund will be made.

PLEASE be fair in your feedback, and remember that I - like all other Etsy sellers - take pride in our work and want you to be thrilled with your purchase. Most of us are willing to bend over backward to make that happen, and unfair negative feedback affects future sales for us. So please give us a chance to correct any problems before leaving negative feedback.
Additional policies and FAQs
ALSO IMPORTANT: Please note that I use paper in many of my designs. I carefully seal each piece, but the sealer is water resistant, not waterproof. So please, no playing in the rain, bathing, swimming, or showering while wearing. I also cannot accept returns for pieces that have been deconstructed by children or pets, dunked in food, beverages, sinks or inks. In other words, wear these pieces normally but take some care with them and they will last (and hopefully make you smile each time you put it on) for many years to come. :)
