A little about the artist

Cherie Smittle enjoys living a life less ordinary. An adventurer and self-professed workaholic, when not traveling, she calls the mountains of Colorado home.

Finding a calm in the middle of the storm through her Art which is playful yet realistic and detailed. The majority of her art has "Easter Eggs" hidden to add some fun. When she was a child her Grandmother subscribed her to Highlights Magazines. She had so much fun hunting for the hidden items in the pictures which inspired her to add hidden objects to her art. Have fun hunting for the Easter Eggs!

Frequently asked questions

Do you entertain Commissions?

While I typically do not do commissions, I am not opposed to it. Ping me with your ideas and I will consider it as long as I have creative freedom on your idea.

Custom and personalized orders

I add embellishments to each giclee piece. Message Cherie with your personalized request and it will be considered.

What is Giclée printing?

You probably already know that the word “Giclée“ is French, with a loose English translation of “to spray”. A Giclée print is not a photo print per-se, but rather an expensive high-end ink-jet pigment based print with higher resolution heads and the ability to work with archival fine art pigments.

My printer’s Giclée printing method is an ultra-high apparent resolution of 1800 dpi, with a twelve color printing process using a Canon Pigment printer. This provides a larger color gamut than the four and six color versions on the market today. For extended print longevity, our printer uses Canon Lucia Pigmented Inks, according to Wilhelm Imaging Research reports, consistently outlast Epson Ultrachrome.

What is LightJet printing?

Images are printed using high-end LightJet printers, ensuring that your valued artwork will be around for generations to enjoy. Sharpness and color are a result of the three (red, green and blue) solid-state lasers. Providing excellent edge-to-edge sharpness, a wide color gamut, and fantastic gamma (contrast). My printer uses the same Canon Lucia Pigmented Inks as the Giclée printing method for extended print longevity.

What kind of paper do you use for your Giclée prints?

I have chosen the best papers to bring out the colors and depth of the artwork, they include:

Fine Art Hahnemühle Velvet Photo Rag (Matte) : The fine, smooth surface, heavy weight (308 g, 21-mil thick), and feel of Photo Rag® that 100% cotton paper. With its premium matte coating it meets the highest industry standards regarding density, color gamut, color graduation and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper.

Archival Matte : featuring a smooth surface, heavy weight (230 g, 9.5-mil thick), neutral white, matte paper engineered for accurate color reproduction that provides high contrast and high-resolution output.

What kind of paper do you use for your LightJet prints?

I have chosen the best papers to bring out the colors and vibrancy of the artwork, they include:

* Kodak Endura Archive (Lustre/Satin, Metallic/High-Gloss)
* Fuji Crystal Archive (Matte, Metallic/High-Gloss)

They have excellent ink retention characteristics and a color gamut that is second to none. The paper has an elegant texture consistent to that of a traditional dark room print. Resulting in prints that are sharp, vibrant, and exceptionally rich-looking that deliver an enhanced look of brighter colors while maintaining accurate flesh tones. With an extended print life (100+ years) you will be able to enjoy your artwork well into the future.

How long will it take to get my artwork?

I have some items in stock for those I will ship out within 2 business days.

Others I need to send to the printer when ordered. The printer usually takes 7 business days to print. To reduce the amount of processing time, I can have the printer send directly to you according to your preferred shipping method. For these orders I will send the certificate of authenticity, artist bio and thank you card separately.

This process can take up to 7 days in addition to your shipping preference.

How do I care for my artwork?

Please keep all art out of direct sunlight, humid rooms such as patios or bathrooms and away from cleaning products. To ensure your art last a lifetime put it in a frame or in a protective sleeve.
