Announcement    AFTER 10 YEARS I QUIT

4/27/2020 I sold an old sewing basket for 99.00, charged 28.00 shipping and handling, two years ago it would have been around 36.00 to send to the west coast, Shipping was 103.00 I made 5.00 profit, This is the reality of how impossible it is to stay in business. If had chosen priority it would have been 165.00.

I will be closing my Etsy shop at the end of May, The fees and rising prices on just about everything from the postal fees to ship, Etsy fees, Etsy demotion on the search engine demanding free shipping or be a nobody in search results, asking to add the shipping fee to the cost of the item, failing to mention that they now take more out of the sale price, but promoting it as if it's good for everyone when it is only good for Etsy and maybe small crafters who have the same shipping price no matter what, forcing custom fees on international sales, customers demanding I pay for the fees because Etsy stated the custom fees are included in my price in the policy section, and when the customer goes to check out now they have added the huge custom fee at checkout, so the customer demands I eat those fees because the policy says it was included in my list price. The cost of the item I purchase to list, over head like bubble wrap, boxes ect going up in price, it's just endless fees, taxes an inflation. when I joined Etsy almost 10yrs ago I joined because they advertised on Google for free it was their selling point really, now you pay if you even want to be seen (don't forget the demotion on Etsy search for not doing free shipping that they charge a fee for if you don't).

The post office charges 11 dollars to treat packages as fragile now, I sell a lot of fragile items. The post office breaks items and the free insurance only includes up 50 bucks and a 3 month runaround to claim it, if it fit the criteria of it being their fault, and if you get it at all. Amazon free shipping has killed off FEDeX, UPS and the post office because they cannot compete with the Amazon internet monopoly gods, example if Fedex wants to stay in business it has to suck off Amazon to stay in business, meaning Fedex lost half it's value because zillionaire Bezo cut the contract with them. To ship a large art piece UPS or Fedex runs about 200 to 400 dollars now. (Amazon does not allow vintage items to be sold, it must be all plastic new garbage, so I pay for it) Shipping to some (well most now) states like Oregon, Washington state, Texas and California are pretty much international shipping,. The post office stopped doing ground shipping on my end of the states and change polices every 10 days to try and stay alive, so I never know how much shipping is gonna be from day to day, I am not making any profits, Etsy has become quite shady in the last few years, I hear Ebay is just as bad. My sales have plummeted for two years without paying to be promoted, I cannot do free shipping, I can no longer afford Etsy fees, Google fees, Custom fees, postal fees, shipping label fees, promotion fees, Fees here and fees there! I sell unique items, old things, heavy things, fragile things, big things, I do not sell small crafts and jewelry, I am one person and not a large company. I have been eating the shipping cost overages for two years with Etsy merrily chipping away at them too, Etsy takes less out of shipping than they do the item price, so I have been milking the lesser fee on shipping for as long as I could, meaning if I added my shipping to my sale price and did free shipping Etsy gets more profit from me, it was a sneaky little way for them to make more money off a seller, and they gas lighted everyone into thinking it was an amazing thing, it was for them.

Customer service from Etsy has been horrible for years, they are like little corporate Marxist robot social justice warrior narc children, with zero business sense. I have received email warnings on several occasions telling me my items are racist, hateful, and so on, and they removed the horrible item I have listed they deem offensive and shall never been seen again, yet other shops sell the same items, so I have the Gestapo watching me like a dystopian nightmare. I had listed an Iranian rug from the 60s, and the item was pulled because of a "new" embargo on new Iranian goods, not old items that are vintage or antique, I had a mid century Moorish piece you can find here on Etsy in other shops, and have sold for years pulled and told It was offensive, hateful, racist even. After being told so many times you are a racist piece of garbage, you tend to get offended (and I don't wanna be them), so now, I never know what to list that the Etsy Army finds offensive. I would hate for the poor guy that listed a Navajo item with a swastika on it to be told how racist he is and his item pulled because of the uneducated big brother Etsy watchers or whatever they are, maybe Etsy should stop paying them and ease up on my shipping fees. So I am done, the last two or so years of watching Etsy go downhill and suck the Corporate gods tit (Google ect) I have come to the conclusion that Etsy is a part of the hive borg mind mentality, individualism will not be tolerated, Exterrrrminate!! Exterrrrminate!! The vintage sellers and unique items! Unless they are chandeliers...and all the same crafts and jewelry!

I don't know where I will go, maybe go back to my starting point in antique galleries, hell if any small business survives this year at all, if not, my stuff will be barter in barter town, right next to the Thunderdome, look for CherryBerry ill try to make my sign look chipper ;) I trade for cantaloupes, seeds, gold, silver and ammo! See you on the other side of the election, plague, revolution, depression folks.

Oh Wait! There's a new fee I have no control of as of May 5th, if someone finds my items through Google (most do since the free pity covid run Google blessed us with) or offsite I pay another 12% percent on my sale, I don't even get to decide, and since I made 10000 last year I should consider myself lucky because I get a huge 3% discount ..Other low life scumbags who did not make that much on Etsy will pay 15% OMG lucky me!! Somebody quick make a new selling site, oh wait that's right Google is God no where to run people.

USA Buyers: I primarily ship Priority Mail, The shipping prices for anything over the Mason Dixon line get ridiculous and double, I make my shipping according to this fluctuation, Its a lot easier for me to refund over payment in shipping then it is to ask a customer to pay more in shipping after they already paid and checked out. I always refund over payments in shipping! Handling Fees May Still Apply, but not for all purchases. Handling Charges apply to items that require a ton of bubble wrap and padding, This is already in the quoted shipping price of the item.

WELCOME TO CHERRY BERRY'S The vintage Lovers Dream! I get new stuff in all the time, so check back often so you don't miss a thing! Everything in my shop I love myself so no junk here just really cool Vintage Hodgepodge, if its old and nostalgic i will put it in here! If it bright and happy, Uber cool or fashionable I'm puttin in my shop! You will never know what vintage treasure your gonna find Here at CherryBerry! This is a no limits Shop!

Please be aware that I buy vintage items from smoking homes as well as auctions, also be aware that I have no idea what people have done in there homes 50 yrs ago and such..you get the point. Please go easy by recognizing that vintage has risk of age and smells, pets ect. I would also ask that if you intend to shop my store and are unable to comprehend this then you probably are not the vintage kind of girl/guy and shouldn't buy vintage items. Also for newbies: vintage shoes/clothes, they will run small, I guess back in the day feet and butts where tinier. Consider the risk of buying old things and find out how and what to expect when purchasing vintage by simple research or by asking questions and checking Measurements compared to your own, just because it says its a size 6 does not mean it will fit a size 6! I want no one to have an unpleasant shopping experience with me ever!

    The story so far...

Ok, I suck at writing in a formal way, so you are just gonna hear it the plain old Non Grammar Troll format :) I started My love of Vintage when i was 18. My Dad Refinished furniture and loved antiques. When I was 19 I began selling antiques in antique malls that were all the rage in the 90s and I have never looked back! You can find the coolest and neatest things at these places, I hate boring and everyday items you can get anywhere, Why would you want it if everybody has it? The thrill of the Hunt has made me practically a Junkie, If I cant go out and find something awesome or unique by the end of the week, Im full well jonesin for the next fix and well grumpy :(
I live in the Mountains of WV, Its a Magical place were everything grows lush and fertile! I am a wild child in many ways, I love Nature ! It was my dream to have a house of my own and I got it! My Etsy shop Is what pays my mortgage. I am doing what I love, living next to nature and procuring vintage items as my own boss, Life couldn't be sweeter. I have recently found a way to combine my love of art and Vintage by up cycling old stuff that can still be made great! I love Horror and it reflects in My art preference. My Etsy shop is the most amazing thing that ever happened to me, It allows me so much freedom to continue doing what I love on every level!
I am married to an awesome guy, Have Three Girls, who I love to death! I decorate My home in Vintage everything, I plant and will plant anything that will grow if I get half a chance, I have a passion for music, I adore Radiohead, Queens of the Stone age, and Masters of Reality as well as ten million other bands. I am one of those people that practically love everything :) As long as im not standing still and stagnating, I can survive anything!

I am an Artist, drawing, painting and even tattooing. I love to live and try new things, I get bored really easy, this of-course reflects the madness and lack of one subject, time period in my Etsy shop! I am Insanely Obsessed with vintage anything!
