ChezSucreChez is taking a short break

Note from shop owner chez-sucre-chez is on an extended break while I focus on a career change. These days, I'm running a busy bakery department. (!!!) If you'd like to see how that's going, look up @factorygirlbakes on Instagram. Thank you SO much for your support and interest in my work!

In 2007, I was living in Greenpoint Brooklyn, and spotted some antique cross-stitched silhouettes in the lobby of a friend's apartment building. This was the spark. The next time I saw my mom, who seemed to have tried every craft in the book, I asked her to show me how to cross-stitch again. She reminded me of the technique and from then on, I was obsessed.
In 2008, wanting a change from city-living, I moved out to more rural Pennsylvania. Unsure of what I would do for work, I kept on stitching, and stitching, and stitching. With passion, the magic of Etsy, some struggle, and a little bit of luck, I was able to turn the little shop I'd started as an outlet for my creative whims into my full-time job.
Since then, chez-sucre-chez has been featured in several US and international publications, taken part in craft fairs from coast-to-coast, done projects with huge names like Martha Stewart and Urban Outfitters, and inspired many crafty gals (and more than just a few guys) to take up interest in cross-stitch, or to rediscover it all over again.
This last accomplishment might be my favourite. Through Etsy and the various craft-fairs, I've been able to connect with a wonderful range of people who have kept me inspired to keep on creating new designs and do-it-yourself kits.

hi there.
i'm kimberly scola, the one-woman circus of chez-sucre-chez. i design, produce, package, photograph, market and ship all of the items you see in this here shop.
i also make a lot of other things. i've never really been able to put a title or a category on exactly what i do -- i call it hand-crafted miscellany. i'm fascinated by traditional american handicrafts --- the stuff the pioneer women all just made for themselves and their households. my interests and skills are constantly evolving... keep up with me!
you can read all about the goings on of my making and baking at:
find lots of photos and links on my main site:

Accepted payment methods

Paypal Visa Mastercard American Express Discover Apple Pay Klarna Giftcard
Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
please alert me as soon as possible if there is any problem with your order!
credit cards (through etsy payment), paypal, etsy gift cards, and money order (please note - payment must be received before i will ship the items. thank you!)
I ship via USPS. My shipping charges are just what it costs me to send the package to you. Unfortunately, on January 28, 2013, the USPS DOUBLED international shipping rates. I'm sorry; I've had to adjust my shipping prices accordingly. I'm not happy about this, either. Get in touch with me if you plan on putting in an order for multiple items - sometimes shipping is cheaper that way.

please allow up to one week** from time of order (and payment) for shipment to go out. please allow an additional one week for custom orders.
**i'm usually quicker than that, though!
if delivery timing is an issue (like, if you are hoping to receive something in time to give is as a gift, or you need it for a certain occasion) simply let me know in the notes to seller. i can give you a more accurate idea of when your package will go out once i've received your order.

I do ship internationally! The USPS recently raised the international shipping rates by over 60% - which is a killer, and I've had to carry those increases through to my shipping costs. PLEASE NOTE: chez-sucre-chez is NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CUSTOMS CHARGES OR TARIFFS.
Additional policies and FAQs
wholesale, and custom orders -- yes, please! contact me via convo or email.
(sorry, i am no longer taking on new consignment relationships....)
generally, i charge a small design/patterning fee for custom work, but after that, the pricing is comparable to the pieces you see in my shop - it's just a matter of time and materials.
