This maple leaf is just amazing. The detail and the quality of the carving is magnificent. Great customer service. He sent me care instructions and a source for the tung oil. I am completely pleased with this transaction!

About

Turning Doomed Trees into Art

Chiseled Forest was started on a whim-almost. At the time of its inception I had been carving off and on for about three years. Despite the fact that all I had produced up until that point were caricatures, whimsical forest houses, and a bunch of "doodles" in wood, I had a strong desire to produce real, finished pieces that I could offer to the public. And so, Chiseled Forest was, quite literally, carved out of little more than a few logs and a strong desire to succeed.

I started making things out of wood when I was a child. From toy tractors to forts and a raft whose maiden voyage, on a nearby pond was a disaster, it seemed that I was always making things. As I grew up I walked away from the art of woodworking. Spending time as a helicopter mechanic in the Marine Corps, a lineman at a fixed base operator fueling aircraft, and as a hired hand on a few farms, my love for working with my hands never dwindled. Now that I'm back working with wood, after so many years, I look forward to each project I undertake with almost a childlike anticipation.

All the pieces I have offered here, to date, have come from trees that were either dead, or headed for a burn pile or fireplace. There is a certain amount of pride that comes from taking an otherwise unwanted tree and turning it back in to something that will be cherished again. Every tree is different and you never know what to expect when you split a log open. It's almost like opening that long awaited gift that you've waited so patiently for. Sharing that gift is the reason for Chiseled Forest.

I don't expect carving to be the end of the line, so to speak, for me. This is just another great vista along the road of woodworking that I travel!

Thank you for stopping in to browse through my shop! All of my finished items are made by me, with you in mind!

The wood in each item is generally what I find in my area. It is usually wood that was destined for a burn pile, wood stove or just naturally fell down in the woods. It is then worked down from a log to the finished products you see here. I mill and dry it all myself, which, in itself is very rewarding!

If you would like a custom carving I would be glad to make it for you! All ideas are welcome, and I'm happy to use any type of wood that you like. Feel free to contact me and we can design that perfect carving together!

I hope you enjoy owning my work as much as I enjoyed making it!

I ship all items using USPS Priority. I add the cost of shipping and materials into the price of my carvings.

I ship within 72 hours of purchase, Monday-Friday. Purchases made after 4pm on Friday or on the weekend will be shipped the following week.

At times I use recycled shipping materials because I want to be as responsible as I can with all of my resources. That being said, packaging may not be as pretty as it could be, but it gets the job done, is cost effective and eco friendly.

I haven't included shipping outside of the US in my prices, so if you need international shipping, please feel free to send me a message and I will be glad to help you out.
Refunds and Exchanges
When you purchase an item from me I make it a point to deliver it to the specified shipping provider in exactly the condition described and photographed.
