About Chrishaywoodart

Sales 55
On Etsy since 2014

My passion is wildlife, animal and botanic art, painting in watercolour and then producing prints and greetings cards

I first discovered botanic art in the year 2000 when I wanted to record the beauty of flowers in close up. I began by trying close-up photography, but this didn't suit me so I tried to paint them instead. To start with I was hopeless, but I began to enjoy it and soon became hooked. Since then I have expanded my interest to include birds and animals in watercolour and more recently coloured pencils.
My first step into selling my work came when I went into a local gallery/framers to have one of my paintings framed. The gallery owner wanted to see more of my work and asked to have some of it in the gallery. This was such a boost to confidence that I had cards made up of some of my designs. I began to sell them on my own stall at fetes, a local farmers' market, the gallery and a local post office. I then progressed to printing my own cards and prints and buying a brilliant new printer. The next step seemed to be to open an Etsy shop.......
