A love of the little things

After a few detours I came back to what I love to do most: Working with my hands.
Just by lucky happenstance in 1996, I landed a spot as an apprentice as a Goldsmith in Dortmund Germany, which are very in demand.

After moving to the United States in 2002, I set up shop in my home and started selling to friends. I've been running my own business ever since.

Most of my work is made from silver and gold. For a pop of color and sparkle, I like to add precious and semi-precious stones.
Usually, I start with silver sheet, which I cut with a jigsaw. The pieces are bend or forged and soldered. Then I create different finishes using steel wool for brushed finishes or hammers, stamps, and files for a more textured look.

I find inspiration in nature as well as cityscapes. I also love vintage wallpapers and images in science books.
Beside my own designs, I create unique designs for customers, and often this collaboration sparks new ideas.

I love working on small things, trying to create perfect little objects. It's just the right dimension for me.

I grew up in Germany and learned the art and craft of metalsmithing in a traditional apprenticeship program. Now I live and work in St. Louis where I'm lucky to share a studio/store with two other brilliant jewelers.
