Once, long ago in 2014, a vintage clothing, jewelry, and collectibles store was born as a direct offshoot of my then-active and highly popular vintage lifestyle blog of the same name: Chronically Vintage.

Much like the blog itself, that Etsy shop thrived and was supported by a fantastic community of fans + customers from across the globe.

Then one day in mid-October 2016, the unthinkable happened. 😔

A total loss arson fire destroyed the fourplex building I was living in at the time.

In the process, it annihilated almost everything I owned, destroyed 100% of the stock for my Etsy shop, and - by far most tragically - took the life of my darling little grey tabby cat, Stella. 🐈🥀

I have always been a fighter and a firm believer that in life it is far more often how you respond to + move beyond difficulties that shape your future than the initial negative/undesirable circumstances themselves.

And so, over multiple years, I rebuilt my life from the ground up.

In the process, I made the gut-wrenchingly difficult choice to retire my vintage blog, as I had to focus nearly all my attention on putting the pieces of my charred world back together again. 🏡

Hop ahead a few more years and the almost equally sudden and unforeseen end of my (then) eighteen-year marriage proved to be the driving catalyst for officially relaunching my Etsy shop.

(It had technically reopened once shortly prior to that point, but not for long, and little came of that brief period.)

The better part of two years after that powerfully life-altering event, I was able to relaunch my Etsy vintage shop in the spring of 2024.

This time with a new name (that pays homage to my endless passion for both fashion and all things dark, spooky, and Halloween-related) and a new sartorial focus.

While you will still find some antique + early and mid-twentieth-century offerings here of the general sort this shop sold in its initial iteration, the focus has shifted considerably.

Now, it is chock-a-block with an ever-expanding selection of yesteryear and contemporary vintage fashions (plus accessories and housewares) that lean more toward goth, witchy, boho, alt, and Y2K directions. (Not unlike my own present-day wardrobe.)

Wonderful new items are listed here weekly and I take special care to try and post the sorts of pieces my customers specifically inform me they are on the prowl for. 🔍👗🥳

There is an ever-growing interest in goth, dark academia, dark cottagecore, boho, alt, and similar styles, and the demand for these aesthetics is skyrocketing!

It is my honour and joy to provide the awesome shoppers of Etsy with high-quality gothic, witchy, alternative, antique, bohemian, vintage, and Y2K finds sourced from right here in my home + current province of British Columbia. 🍁

We never know what life will throw our way and how it will impact us.

However, we have within us, a remarkable tenacity and ability to rise from the ashes - be they literal or proverbial. 🙌

In more ways than one, the launch and subsequent running of The Witch's Closet on Etsy is precisely that not only for myself but for all those who help to support this shop in any capacity. 💞

I am a long-time multi-chronic illness warrior who draws their livelihood from online selling, and I would not be able to do so without each one of you fa-boo-lous souls.
