So here's the story:

Last year, I had an identity crisis of sorts and abruptly quit my high profile, well-paying, corporate job--with absolutely no Plan B. GERONIMO!

It's a rough road, not knowing where you fit anymore. I've spent the last twelve months neck-deep in the Seven Stages of Grief (and Poverty). And you know what? It's true. As bad as it gets, you do come out the other side. Eventually.

City & Sea Vintage is the dream I didn't even know I had. It's what I did when I felt completely helpless and didn't know what else to do for myself. It was what came naturally. My true passion was revealed only when all the distractions were ripped away.

C&S is a collection of everything I love: chippy, rusty, mossy and tarnished. My passion is finding beauty in things cast away because in my mind, everybody deserves a second chance.

We focus almost exclusively on Vintage and Original Reworked Furnishings, Lighting and Home Decor from the 1920s - 1960s.

PaymentPaypal is our only accepted means of payment. Even if you don't have a paypal account you can still check out with us using Paypal!
Shipping
Our packing includes Bubble Wrap, Peanuts and new (when possible) custom sized boxes, our items are one of a kind or at least difficult to find, we want your new find to arrive at it's destination in best condition possible. Shipping may cost a little more but the experienced buyer knows it's better to have an item arrive whole and in one piece than to skimp on shipping and receive an item in a smashed box.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you make sure your SHIP TO address is updated in Paypal! If you are sending a gift, please make sure to add your recipient's address in Paypal as the SHIP TO address for your purchase! We cannot ship to an address other than the ship to address provided within Paypal (not the one in your Etsy account or sent as a convo via Etsy) - This is Paypal's shipping policy and as a verified seller we must adhere to this guideline. If your address in Paypal is incorrect, contact us immediately, we can cancel the order and re-invoice you very easily to allow you to enter the correct address.

Shipping within the US is via FedEx Ground (which actually is usually 3 business days, fairly fast) for furniture or when noted, or USPS for smaller items. All of our shipping prices include a new (whenever possible) shipping box, new packaging materials, FULL INSURANCE and confirmation. We almost always try to ship Priority but sometimes we also use 1st class or Parcel Post. All of our ship to address labels come from Paypal. You must make sure your address is correct in Paypal as we cannot go in to your account and change your ship to address for you.

Once an item has shipped we cannot control how long the post office takes to deliver, though we do our best to make their job easier by printing our shipping directly from Paypal. We pack well, insure and hope the post office honors their delivery schedule. We use tracking on ALL our US shipments to help locate packages should the need arise. If you are in the US, your paypal account will have a tracking number associated with it once it ships.

*Signature on Delivery is extra but will prevent the carrier from just leaving your item on a doorstep. All orders over $225. will have signature on delivery per Paypal Policy.
For those of us who live in more urban areas, a package left on the doorstep can be a "free gift" for the less honest passerby.

Signature on delivery is good for you and us both to prevent an item from going missing, however we leave it up to you to decide whether signature on delivery is for you. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE THIS OPTION on items priced less than $250.00.
Please Note:
*Signature on Delivery is REQUIRED and automatically included for items priced over 225.00 . This is to stay within the Paypal required guidelines.

SHIPPING DISCOUNTS* Shipping is paid to the postal carrier, shipping is not a profit for us and is not something that can be discounted. There is no way to discount the shipping. In the very rare instance that an item is shipped to an old address, the second shipping fees will be paid by the BUYER. It would be great if we could ask the post office to resend it to the correct address gratis, but they just don't operate this way.

For customers outside the US:
Please be aware: your own country's customs service may impose a range of import fees, taxes, tariffs, duties at the time of delivery. These are not in my control and I have no way of knowing when or if they will be imposed or how much they might be. For information you should contact your local customs agency.
Bear in mind items that are refused for excessive duty/customs fees will not be returned to us the sender (AKA Austin Modern / Chase and Scout). In refusing items in order to avoid paying the customs/duty fees you are basically throwing your order away. We cannot refund for items that we do not receive back.

WE WILL NOT MARK INTL ORDERS AS A GIFT IN ORDER TO SKIRT OR AVOID CUSTOMS/IMPORT TAXES. It is illegal and we could loose our business license, so it is not worth it to do this.
Refunds and Exchanges*Custom jewelry is not returnable, we use size requests for rings and create jewelry based on the size requested. Earrings are not returnable as many states including ours do not allow the return and resale of earrings as they have passed through the body. If an item has been damaged in transit, please contact us directly via convo and we will work with you to create a replacement whenever possible. Items must be returned before we can issue a refund.
Refunds and Exchanges
VINTAGE:
All of our items are one of a kind, we go out of our way to describe items as fairly as possible and we welcome all questions prior to purchase.
Please bear in mind all vintage items have a mild baseline of wear as each item has seen at least 30 years of life.
We tend not to bother listing items that are in unusuable or broken condition, it is a waste of our time and yours. Areas of concern will be noted, photographed and taken into consideration while pricing.

We WILL accept a return for a refund or exchange an item for a different item.
If it turns out that an item is not what you were hoping for, you we will be happy to issue a refund for your original purchase once the item has been returned to us in as sent condition. We Do NOT offer partial refunds. If an item is not as described or doesn't quite meet your expectations, no amount of discounting will change the issue or your mind.

We WILL accept a return for a refund though.

To request a refund follow these simple steps:
1. Please let us know within 72 hrs (3 days) of receipt.
2. Repack the item carefully
3. return item to us with BOTH tracking and Insurance (as it was sent)
4. Let us know the item has been sent so we can keep an eye out for it
5. Once an item is returned to us in the condition it was sent in we will issue a paypal refund to you. EASY!

Please be sure to pack well, if the item is damaged in return transit, we will need to request an insurance claim, if the claim is denied due to poor packing there is nothing we can do. Insurance claims also take 30 days to process, please PACK WELL!
We'd MUCH Rather have the item back in salable condition and this makes the credit process much faster for everyone!

We're sorry but we cannot eat the shipping charges in either direction. This is a fee that is paid to the post office and is not retrievable. To be clear, we cannot refund or credit shipping for returns.

We apply insurance to all packages, we will not accept returns for items damaged in transit. Repeat. We CANNOT accept returns for items damaged in Transit. This is because the Post office, UPS, FedEx, Greyhound, Etc will want the item to remain at it's destination to investigate and complete a claim. If an item damaged in transit is remailed, it negates the insurance. *Please see our shipping policies to view our packing methods*
We CAN, and WILL file an insurance claim with UPS or FedEx or USPS which is why we send all items insured. Neither of us (the buyer or seller) should be held responsible for poor handling or damage in transit. We fight the good fight. We may need images/photos of the damaged item for the claims process so please do not discard any packaging materials as this can negate the insurance claim.

We use FedEx, UPS and USPS Priority specifically to minimize transit time and therefore hopefully minimize damage, however things can happen no matter how well packed an item is and so we make sure all items are insured.
Additional Policies and FAQsTHANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS! We VALUE IT!

For larger items we will contact a blanket wrap or freight company for a quote. Shipping quotes for large items can take us a few days to get as we are also on the road hunting for goodies and minding the store, so we provide measurements and weight estimates for larger items if you would like to get an immediate quote on your own.
We recommend Plycon and Craters & Freighters.

Greyhound is the cheapest ship option available but you get what you pay for with shipping services. We generally do not use Greyhound for larger more expensive items as their Insurance Maximum is just 300.00 per item.

Lighting: Please be aware that all lighting sold by City & Sea is vintage and has it's original wiring unless otherwise specified. With any vintage lighting we recommend rewiring or having an electrician check the fixture to assure safety.
