Announcement   Welcome to Civilized Wilderness Art! I'm Julie, an artist based in Olympia, Washington. Staring out my back window at the stand of old growth Douglas Firs inspires so many ideas from brown creepers dancing up and down a tree trunk to a saw-whet owl camouflaged against a branch. I paint whimsical interpretations of neighborhood animals (with a few I wish would visit my neighborhood). My animal portraits began when I was inspired by my nieces' school pictures throughout the years. I started featuring owls in poses such as the wallflower with a bad hair day to the cheerleader with rosy cheeks and a twinkle in her eye. My art has expanded to include all kinds of little critters that I hope will make you smile. For my original work, I use acrylics and mixed media (usually watercolor, ink, and pencil works). For my prints and note cards I use high quality ink, paper, and canvas. Thank you for visiting my shop and please contact me with any questions you might have at julie.jansen [!at] yahoo.com.

About

Civilized Wilderness Art

I'm an artist and writer on the side and started my Etsy shop to help promote and sell my paintings. I love to paint wildlife usually with some human characteristics or with a scifi spin.

Shipments within the United States should arrive in 3-5 days. Express Shipping via the USPO (one to two day delivery) is available for USA orders for an additional fee; please contact me for a quote.

I ship 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with the exception of postal holidays. Orders received on late Thursday night through Sunday may ship on Monday morning. If something is urgent, please let me know and if possible, I'll try to expedite shipping.

International shipments- items being held in customs may cause extended delays up to a month or more. Unfortunately I have no control over this, and am not responsible for these delays, however I always ship promptly with the correct customs paperwork. I am not responsible for custom fees or import charges.

I ship mostly using USPS First Class mail. I always email a confirmation of when your purchase will be shipped and estimated shipping time. Larger items may ship priority mail. Most shipments will be confirmed with a tracking number via Paypal.

Some items I cannot ship internationally due to size and value, sorry. I cannot be responsible for delays in delivery of international packages, and reserve the right to refuse to ship to countries with histories of lost items.
