Announcement   Welcome!
I design and create needle felted wool animals, Waldorf angels and fairies. My creations are noted for their personality and character, as well as the very soft, luxurious, natural fibers.

As a Waldorf parent, I was inspired by the natural toys that grace the early childhood classrooms in Waldorf schools.

I've dabbled in many handwork arts, but when I discovered felting, it quickly became a passion. I love the ability felting allows one to be totally creative and in the moment with your muse. I find inspiration for my felting from nature -- in my garden, in the Midwest prairies and woodlands, and in wilderness areas I have visited. I hope you enjoy my work.

About

Making Wool Come to Life

When I was a little girl, my mom taught me the handwork arts--sewing, crochet, knitting and embroidery. I didn't like to follow patterns, so I would just make up my own designs for doll clothes and embroidered art. Decades later, when my son went to Waldorf school, I rediscovered handwork. As a Waldorf mom, I loved crocheting and knitting animals and dolls out of soft, natural, luxurious fibers like cashmere, alpaca, angora and merino wool.

When I finally discovered needle felting, I knew I had found my artistic medium. The world opened up for my creative muse. If I could dream it, I could do it.

I love nature, adore animals and enjoy spending time in the woods. My wool animals are inspired by those I observe in nature. I also spend countless hours studying photographs of animals from every angle. This has helped me create a sense of realism in my needle felt animals.

As one customer said, "When I peeled back the tissue surrounding my three brown bunnies, I gasped. These furry friends looked like they had been plucked right out of the forest. They are utterly adorable, life-like, and enchanting."

Some of my animals are created on a wire frame and can be posed; others have soft frames, like my needle felted puppies.
I prefer the softest, most luxurious natural fibers for my creations including alpaca, llama, yak, camel, merino wool and angora.

My Waldorf angels and Waldorf fairies spring from my imagination and I am often inspired by art, whether that is Monet, medieval art or the Waldorf paintings children make in the classroom.

I style the soft hair which may be cashmere, merino or Lincoln locks with braids, twists and headbands.

The wool dolls are created on a wire frame which allows them to pose They love to dance!

I also create wool paintings and book illustrations. They are inspired by the early 20th century children's book illustrators I admire. I hope you enjoy my wool worlds.

Welcome to my shop. I hope you enjoy my creations. My needle felted figures are original designs that I created with the help of my muse. I do not use patterns, so although I may create a figure more than once, no two are exactly the same.

Your felted creature is signed and comes with care instructions.

My figures are made of a variety of natural fibers which may include sheeps wool, alpaca, llama, camel, mohair which I try to obtain from local, sustainable farms. I prefer to use very soft wools.
