I bought this item as a gift for a loved one, however after receiving this pen and using it, I discovered that I will probably need one for myself and many other family members. The size is perfect, it fits comfortably in your hand. I was unsure if I would like the polymer clay wrapped around part of the lower stem but after seeing it in person I love it. It makes a big difference that the clay is polished. The weight of the pen is perfect and is very satisfying to write with.

Shipped fast, fits Very well in my Maxmadco pen and more responsive on screens than the plastic nubs that come with most reactive touch screens.

About

Polymer Clay (PC) may be one of the coolest inventions EVER!

I discovered polymer clay in the mid 90's. I was hooked then, but did not have the space or the funds to do much with it so I put it away for a while. In 2011, I came across some clay (and it was still good!!) so I began working with it again. I haven't stopped since!
Polymer Clay (PC) is essentially PVC in a pliable form until it is cured (fired) with heat. It is an absolutely versatile medium that has so many possibilities for uses that it's mind boggling! You can make things out of PC itself...you can cover items (glass, metal, etc.) with PC...you can embellish PC with powders, inks, crystals...you can sculpt with PC...you can carve PC, etc. There are almost endless possibilities!

I am constantly searching for things, textures, and visual aspects that I can use with clay, recreate with clay, or mimic with clay, etc. I create my items with my hands and a few manual tools. The only power tool used is a dremel I use for buffing some pieces after I've cured and wet sanded them. Items that are sanded & buffed are wet sanded multiple times to a fine grit and then buffed to a polished-stone shine. Some items are not buffed due to size or other features. These items receive a clear top coat. Sometimes I leave the piece a matte clay finish without a top coat or buff. It depends on the item and how it will be used and the effect I want to create.

The pens I make are not turned on a lathe as pen turners use. Pen turners put their material (wood, stone, etc.) called a blank on a machine called a lathe that spins the blank evenly on it's center. The pen turner skillfully "carves" away excess material to the desired shape and thickness using sharp hand-held tools. When making a pen barrel with clay, the clay is soft, unlike hard wood or stone, as it is being shaped for the pen using my hands and a few manual tools. It is only hardened (cured) once the desired shape and thickness has been obtained.

I accept custom requests for many items. If you see an item, a pen for example, in my shop, but would like a different finish (24k gold instead of chrome, for example) and a different color clay or your initials engraved in the clay, for example, contact me and I will be happy to discuss the options! Also, if you are looking for an item but do not see it, or any variation of it, in my shop, contact me -- I may be able to help. There are many items that I have done in the past or can do, but just aren't listed in my shop currently.

I hope you enjoy the items that I create and check back often as new items are added regularly. Thank you for stopping by!
