Functional Art For the Home and Heart.
I started my shop when we moved to Divide Colorado in 1999. We were a military family and moved often, So, when My Husband retired from the Army in 2000 that gave me the green light to set up shop here in Divide. We live on the back side of Pikes Peak at 9200 feet in elevation, I get much of my inspiration from objects and animals and in nature. Just about everyday I see Elk, Deer, and many Birds passing through our property. There are 3 lakes around us and in the summer there are many Dragonflies, I love to Kayak on our largest lake and watch them swirling all around us.
We have a 3 car garage that I have converted into a studio space. I have 2 kilns a wheel and slab roller to make as much pottery as my heart desires. Most of my work is thrown on the wheel. Once it is thrown I wait until it dries some and then decorate each piece myself. Some of the pots get hand sculpted Calla Lilies on them others get hand painted dragonflies, and then I created a sgraffito line of work that has Fish and Luna Moths painted on them. Most of the sgraffito work is wood or soda fired.
This is my full time job, I sell in galleries, I do shows and have a few wholesale accounts.
