About ClayCraftDecor

Sales 36
On Etsy since 2017

I first discovered I loved art in 5th grade when I saw my classmate next to me draw amazing cars. I decided to give it a shot, and started drawing all of the time. In high school I took all of the art classes I could, where I found out I loved making things out of clay. However, the clay either needed a kiln or was oil based and would never harden. I was upset. I certainly couldn't afford a kiln, and at the time I had no idea that oven-bake clay was a thing. For years I didn't make anything despite my desire to. Then one day while walking through Walmart, I saw Sculpey, which claimed to become hard only when it was cooked in an oven. I bought it excitedly and made all kinds of stuff out of it. The first attempts were utter failures, falling apart in the oven or even becoming over-baked to the point of bubbling and burning! (that does not smell good, let me tell you...) Luckily I didn't give up and became better at it. I thought about selling my creations, but no one in my immediate vicinity wanted or could afford them, and selling things online stressed me out.
Fast forward to now, and I decided I would get over my fear of selling things online. A clay creation I made for my friend in Turkey, a koi pond with a single koi and lotus flower, got a lot of attention from my friends and family. I was also very surprised at the quality as I hadn't touched clay in years! Because of this clay sculpture, the koi is now a sort of mascot for my store and is the reason I drew my logo as a fish with CCD in it's design. I've promised my friend I wouldn't make another creation exactly the same as her gift, but I have made another with a different design so her gift will always be unique.
I didn't really know where to sell my stuff, so one of my friends suggested Etsy, and it seemed easy enough. So here I am, trying to sell the items I make out of clay.
I do have a DeviantArt, and I post all of my clay stuff there immediately after listing it on Etsy. Usually the items on DeviantArt have more info on how they were created, how I feel about them, and the occasional agony I felt while trying to make something (xD).

Frequently asked questions
No cancellations?

I don't accept cancellations if the order has been marked as shipped. If you, say, buy it but the next day want to cancel before I have shipped it, that's OK. You only need to contact me before I ship. For 100% personal commissions, see the link in this FAQ (Custom and personalized orders) for all the information you'll need.
Purchases that are custom-ordered cannot be cancelled.

Custom and personalized orders

Certain items have the option for customized options. This mostly covers things such as specific colors or patterns, but can cover other small differences. To custom order something, simply go the listing you want to customize and hit the Requst a custom order button. All listings offering customization should have information in the description to help you write out your custom order. For something more different and personal, such as an entirely customized dragon or animal not in shop, you will need to commission me. Commissions have their own rules and policies which you can read up on here:

I ordered more than one item and the shipping is outrageous!

Etsy doesn't allow me to have calculated shipping AND combined shipping. This basically means it charges you for the shipping and handling as though each item were packaged/shipped separately. I do, however, combine the shipping. If you've been overcharged I will refund you the difference so that you only pay how much it cost me to ship the items.
