This is a lovely piece. The colors are a little lighter than the picture - it is a true turquoise and the bottom is more of a beige than brown. That being said, it is well made and attractive.

About

Unique and Durable

I started my ceramics shop with one main goal in mind: to create unique pottery that people can use every day.

All of my pottery is thrown on my pottery wheel or built with slabs of clay, making each piece one-of-a-kind. I also use glazes that I mix myself to add that special, personal touch.

To ensure that all of my pottery is durable enough to stand the test of time, I fire to 2185 degrees F. Pottery fired to high temperatures is natuarally stronger than low fire pottery.

I also test all of my glazes to make sure they will withstand everyday use. I have soaked a sample of each glaze in vinegar to make sure it will withstand the acids naturally found in foods. I also boil each glaze sample in dishwashing detergent, to ensure that each of my pieces will have a long dishwasher life. My promise to you is that I will only use materials that pass my rigorous durability tests.

This is my basic creation process:
- I weigh a lump of clay to ensure it is the correct amount, and wedge, or knead it, to remove any air bubbles and even out the moisture content.
- I make the piece either by throwing on my wheel, or rolling out a slab of clay and forming it into the shape I want.
- I let the piece dry for a day or so, then trim away excess clay from the bottom, add handles, and make other adjustments. Then I cover it in plastic to keep it from drying too quickly.
- The piece dries slowly over the course of one to two weeks. If it dries too quickly, it could crack.
- I load my kiln and fire all my dry pieces the first time. This is called a bisque firing.
- The pieces are removed, and I glaze them either by dipping or painting.
- After the glaze dries, I fire them again.
- When the kiln has cooled, I remove each piece and inspect it, then smooth any rough spots with a special stone.
- Now the pottery is ready for you to use and enjoy!

Shipping
My processing time is sometimes as fast as 1 day, but may take up to 5 business days. This is the amount of time it takes me to get your item in the mail. Shipping times, described below, are the amount of time it takes the postal service to deliver the order. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that the postal service will deliver within these times.

On domestic orders, I ship via USPS First Class Mail or Priority Mail with shipping confirmation. This usually takes between 3 to 5 business days. If you prefer USPS express mail (1 to 2 days), UPS, or Fed Ex, additional charges may apply so please send me a convo before purchase.

On international orders, I ship USPS First Class International for shipments up to 4 pounds, or USPS Priority International for shipments over 4 pounds. Shipping time is variable, and items may be held in customs, so I cannot guarantee shipping times. Buyer is responsible for any customs, duties, taxes, or other fees associated with importing.

I ship my pottery in clean boxes wrapped in bubble wrap, newsprint and/or foam. I reuse shipping materials if possible. Please reuse or recycle your packaging materials!

I am happy to ship gifts directly to the recipient! If you do not wish to have prices appear on the shipping invoice, let me know in the message at checkout. You can also include a special note for the recipient! Please include your name in the note, so they know who it's from. If your gift does not arrive by the special day, I can email you a printable note saying that the gift is on its way!

If you would like items shipped to multiple addresses, please order them separately. Thank you!
Refunds and Exchanges
If an item arrives damaged or broken, please notify me within 14 days of receipt, including a photo of the damages. You may choose between 1) a full refund or 2) a similarly priced piece from my Etsy store.

If an item arrives that is significantly different than the item ordered, ship the item back to me and I will refund the return shipping costs and ship the correct item, after I have received the undamaged return item.

If you decide you do not want an item before it ships, notify me in writing and I will issue a full refund. If you decide you do not want an item after it ships, return the item and I will issue a refund for the purchase price after receiving the undamaged return item. In this instance buyer is responsible for all shipping costs (initial and return).

If you decide you want to exchange an item that arrives as described and without damage, ship it back to me, and after I receive it undamaged, I will send you your exchange item. In this instance, buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. If necessary, I will send you a Paypal invoice to cover additional costs.

Please package return items carefully. If I receive the item broken due to poor packaging, I can't issue a refund or exchange. Please use an inexpensive service (I cannot issue full shipping refunds when items are returned via expensive shipping) and please include tracking information. Insurance is not necessary. Please email me a photo or photocopy of the shipping receipt so I know when to expect it, and (if applicable) how much to refund you.

I will happily refund the cost of an item that never arrives. I do not consider an item to be missing for at least 4 weeks on domestic orders, or 10 weeks on international orders.

Please request refunds, returns, or exchanges in writing within 14 days of receiving shipment in order to receive a new item or refund. Please ship any returning items within 15 days of our written correspondence about the transaction.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please send me a convo if you are interested in a custom item, and we can work out the details. Non-custom items ship as is, and cannot be personalized.

Since all of my pottery is hand made, no two pieces will be exactly alike in shape, size, color, or design. All sizes are approximate. I use stock photos on most listings.

I only use materials that will withstand the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. All of my dinnerware is food safe. Please be aware of the following care guidelines, so that your pottery will be beautiful for generations: My dinnerware is dishwasher safe, however many cycles in the dishwasher over time can dull the glossy glaze. This is due to the alkaline nature of dishwashing detergent. Wash your pottery by hand if you would like to maintain the high gloss, or use an acidic dishwashing detergent, such as Lemi Shine. Remember that pottery is susceptible to thermal shock. It can reach freezer or oven temperatues, but it must get there slowly and evenly. So don't preheat your oven, or take something directly from the freezer to the oven. And please don't use on the stovetop, broiler or grill. Pottery can be sharp if broken, so please use care, especially over hard surfaces, such as concrete. Please don't leave young children unattended with pottery.

My ring holders with melted glass in the bottom are beautiful because of how the glass crackles as it cools. However, these cracks can harbor bacteria that washing won't remove. So please don't bring food into direct contact with my crackled glass items.

Due to differences of computer screen settings, colors may not be exactly like those you see.

For my customers with allergies, please be aware that this pottery comes from a household with cats. My house is smoke free.
