Additional policies and FAQs
Time frame
It is always advised to check and see if I am working on any paintings. If a wait list, a deposit would be collected and once I am able to start your painting the balance would be due. Rush jobs can be considered depending for an extra cost.

Image Reference
Please provide a very high file format, clear, non blurry, non pixelated, photograph that you would like painted. What I need are large enough images that the details of a person's face and/or other features you'd like included in the piece (hands feet, shoulders, etc.) are readily visible, and in sharp focus. If the image is emailed to me, the resolution will have to be strong enough that when I print it, all details are visible and focused.

Shipping
Shipping will take place 1-3 months after painting is finished depending on how quick you need it. Oil paints can take up to a year to dry fully so please keep that in mind for deadlines.

Varnishing

Your painting will be shipped without varnishing applied.

Why do I have to wait 6 months to a year before I apply the final coat of varnish to an oil painting? (varnish is the thin, clear protective layer that is applied to a finished painting - varnish is available in matte, satin, and gloss finish)

As the name implies, oil paint is made with oil and pigment (color). Oil requires a long time to dry! If you poured olive oil / salad oil on your kitchen counter and you left it there, it would take a long time to dry. Oil paint does not contain olive or salad oil but it does contain an oil with a similar drying time.

After about a week, most oil paintings are dry to the touch. This does not mean that they are completely dry! It takes an average oil painting 6 months to 1 year before it is dry enough to varnish. I have been told by museum currators that there are very old, very thick paintings in museums that are still drying.

If you varnish an oil painting too soon, it will crack later! This because the protective varnish will dry before the oil paint does. As oil paint dries it moves (slightly) and since the varnish is already dry it begins to crack. Paintings (varnished too soon) with thick oil paint tend to have bigger cracks than thinner oil paintings.

You should request varnish instructions and a timeline.

Disclaimer
The paintings that I paint are in fact that, paintings. They are not photo copies of photos nor are they true to form. They are my version of expressionism style. To see samples of my work and my kind of style that I paint please view my website. Colors will vary and will not be exact, details in photos will not be exact, this will be a painting and with that my interpretation, and style will be applied.

Hope you find something you like here, if you want a painting of something you don't see, just ask and I'll paint it for you.

Thank you for visiting! Enjoy your time here.
