About

Clockwork Art: Artist & curator. Watercolour & oil. Steampunk & circuitry. And kittens.

I'm Braden Duncan a.k.a. Clockwork Art, an artist & curator based in Seattle, WA. I work primarily in watercolour.

INSPIRATION:
I am fascinated by the effects of transformative technologies on contemporary society, and I aim to take over the world with the strange and the adorable. I can also officially say I've turned 'crazy cat lady' into a viable profession! I make art that I love, and I'm thrilled to share my creations with fellow animal lovers.

I love painting animals. I grew up with a menagerie, and I have always been fascinated by the colours & textures of feathers & fur and the fun little quirks that make each creature unique. My favourite muse is my little black Diesel kitten. Being adorable is her job, and she takes it very seriously. Painting my own kitty inspired me to start painting pets for friends and family as well; through Clockwork Art I now have the pleasure of painting animals from all over the world!

PROCESS & MATERIALS:
I paint surrounded by my kittens in my Seattle studio. All of my materials are archival and acid-free. I have my work professionally scanned, colour-proofed & reproduced locally so that my fine art prints always resemble my original pieces as closely as possible.

For more info about me, my work, and Seattle art events, feel free to send me a Convo or check out my website (www.clockworkart.com) or help support me through Patreon (www.patreon.com/ClockworkArt).

Cheers!

Shipping
All in stock items will ship the following business day after receiving your cleared payment (excluding Saturday, Sunday & holidays). Some items take longer; please refer to individual listings for details.

I offer a variety of shipping options based on the size of your item(s) & your preferred delivery speed. Please select the option that most closely matches your order, as this will determine the accuracy of your shipping cost.

I combine shipping! If you purchase multiple items & would like them shipped together, please contact me before paying; I'll send you an invoice with combined shipping (Etsy's default calculations are rarely accurate).

Please make sure your shipping address is up to date! Unless you request otherwise, I ship to the address provided by Etsy, and I can't be held responsible for packages that can't find your new address.

CUSTOM PORTRAITS are shipped via USPS Priority Mail unless otherwise requested. All original artwork is matted & shipped flat with stiff cardboard backing & insurance is included for free. Please allow 3-6 weeks for completion of custom portraits (depending on my current queue & travel schedule) & 2-4 days for domestic shipping.

PRINTS, CARDS, MAGNETS & STICKERS are shipped via USPS 1st Class Mail unless otherwise requested in flat in reinforced envelopes. Prints larger than 11x14 are wrapped in tissue and shipped rolled in a tube.

My items are handmade and (with the exception of prints, cards, magnets & stickers) one-of-a-kind. If your item is delayed, lost, or damaged in shipping, I cannot always replace it with a new one, but I will do my best to work with the Post Office to resolve the problem.

***INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS***
Commissioned portraits are shipped with insurance via USPS International Priority Mail, and usually take 6-10 business days for delivery. USPS International Priority Express Mail is available for an additional fee upon request, and usually takes 3-5 business days.

Prints, cards, magnets & stickers are shipped via USPS International 1st Class Mail, which can take 10+ business days. Expedited shipping is available for an additional fee upon request.

I cannot be held responsible for any international customs fees, taxes, duties, or tariffs that you may incur past the point of sale. These fees are not included in the shipping price (I have no way of calculating them) and are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. I likewise cannot be held responsible for shipping delays due to international customs; I have no control over packages once they leave the United States.

The Post Office is the most reliable (and affordable) international delivery service I have found. If you have any questions concerning delivery of your international purchase, please use the tracking # on your Etsy receipt and contact your local Post Office.
Additional policies and FAQs
RETAIL • CONSIGNMENT • WHOLESALE • EXHIBITION

If you represent an art space interested in carrying my work, feel free to contact me. I'm happy to offer discounted prices for prints, cards, magnets & stickers purchased wholesale. Wholesale is available anywhere in the US (international on a case-by-case basis), consignment in the Seattle area only.

Pieces from my current bodies of work are also available for exhibition. If you represent a gallery space interested in hosting my original art, please let me know. I'm happy to work with you as schedules allow.

FAQ's

Q: Do you accept commissions?
A: Happily, as long as they fit in with my style & recent bodies of work. Please reference the Custom Pet Portraits section of my Etsy shop for more info on sizes, pricing & my process.

Q: Can I purchase a portrait for a friend?
A: Of course! As long as you have reference photos ready *before* you place your order. Pet portraits are non-refundable, and Etsy is fairly strict about adhering to shipping deadlines. It is not my responsibility to contact your friend for photos, and I cannot guarantee a timely delivery unless I have pictures to work with at the time of purchase.

Q: Can you change the colour of this print for me?
A: No, I cannot accommodate custom colour changes or any other adjustments for prints, cards, magnets or stickers. I am a traditional watercolour artist, not a digital artist, and the pieces I've already created are intended to remain as is. I am happy to create an original commissioned piece if you'd like something a little different.

Q: The shipping cost seems high. Do you combine shipping for multiple items?
A: Yes! I happily combine shipping. :) Etsy unfortunately does not have the most accurate shipping calculator, especially for multiple items. I refund overcharges if I notice them before shipping, but if you have any concerns, you're welcome to contact me prior to placing your order & I'll set up a custom listing for you with a more reasonable combined shipping cost.

Q: Can we meet up for an art drop off?
A: Sure! If you're in the Seattle area & schedules allow. :)
